An emotive poem, pleading for grace and mercy
Come, tears of grace and healing.
Come, quench this thirst
of the phoenix in me.
And when rain comes...
Pour down on me.
Yes, when all else fail we can only plead for God's grace through prayers.
If you can, do drop by to read my poem, Crippled, a heart wrenching poem about mental illness.

I have never read any of your work but this free verse is a utmost welcome surprise. Beautiful photo that complements your poem perfectly. You compared tears to water that needs to come. Best wishes for the contest.

A young woman longing for the grace and blessing of an outpour of rain in order to quench her spirit and dry brittle bones of the suffering she has endured and heal her in it's wet drops of forgiveness. Well written and emotionally expressed with wonderful descriptive words!

rain is usually associated with pain but you look at it in this poem as saving grace - which indeed it is that too. Beautiful words.

Beautifully said. We often cannot intercede or slow the motion but we can pray and be satisfied that we have given it the best that we could.

I like the images your poem presents -- the grace flowing down as water poured over a person cleansing all the impurities of spirit. I found no errors in your lovely poem.

I like the mix of hope and need or hurt here. The metaphor of you as a phoenix is such a powerful image since we are all growing and changing all the time, and you pray for a transformation from the rain. Very spiritual and touching.

hello. A good free verse for the contest. It sure enough gives us a picture of someone reaching out to the last thing possible...and the atmosphere of sadness among its words

These words sound like a desperate plea for grace and cleansing.
It's well done. Contrary to the author note, prayer comes first and
brings the answer that we may not want to hear.
