Beautiful essay that shows the subtle differences between remembering and reminiscing- something I had not thought of before, but will now. Your shift from jogging to the nature of reminiscing to actual memories and your epiphany is masterfully done. A six if I had one. You should submit this. My folks get a magazine called " Reminisce". This would be a perfect fit.

That is a geat idea. looked at this magazine once before when I was considering submitting something but I didn't follow through. I think you are right. This would be a good fit. Think I will follow up. Thanks. And thanks for the virtual six.

This is a very nice write and an excellent example of a memoir, choosing a specific moment in time. You metaphor works well, subtle yet highly visual as you turn the pages. In the sentence about the grape vines running across the backyard, I'd really recommend you rework the sentence so 'that' doesn't appear together. You could even just drop one and it would be cleaner--stopped me cold until I read it aloud.

Thanks, Ingrid. I wrestled with that. Thanks for validating what I was afraid of. I will just remove it. Thanks also for the bonus star.

Very nice, and I have to agree with you. Reminiscing usually does refer to the good times in our past. Well done.
note:
Just last week my {sister, Mimi} and I were discussing this encroaching phenomenon.
- separate and add.

Hi there,
Quite frankly, I loved this piece.
It just feels right somehow. It has a gentle tone to it that is most appealing. I love to reminisce. It helps to not dwell on the bad stuff.
Great write.

Still have difficulty to pronounce the word, reminisce. Memories of our childhood gets clearer as we age. We are never too old to learn new tricks as long as we are wiling to learn. Very well written

memories that we had I[in] common
My son has the most amazing memory. He is staying with me now and he is constantly reminiscing about his childhood. Mine is very fuzzy almost like I was just passing through not actually living it. This is interesting Dallas. Maybe I should reminisce with my brother. LOL Good luck. xxx Nancy

You should try it . Together, otherwise unearthed revelations are more likely to just float to the surface. I caught the type error just a few seconds ago. thanks.
