This is an interesting post that the author has created with this piece of work. I find that I am reminiscing more and more as I get older. The aches and pains are also creeping in. I am getting old too.

Reminiscing can be great fun but also a bit painful as it makes you realize how old you are getting. I feel your pain - lol.
Good luck in the contest. I saw no changes needed.

I enjoyed reading your story, you did a great job developing the characters and the plot; also, I like the attractive format that enhanced the story. Good job!

Ah yes I remember it we'll actually I don't I have mental block that I hated until reading this story. Does the block mean I won't get old?
The story is well laid out and held my interest from start to finish. It could have been taking place in a million homes every second.
A good read

Hi, Alice. Haven't heard from you in a while. this is a well written memory lane type story and I think you have an excellent chance of winning the contest with it. I like the feel of it and the way you set up the situation to convey it all. Bravo! Bob

Now there is a coincidence. I just finished reviewing Bad day-Good dogs and thought I'd check out my reviews while I was in here and guess who popped up? I have taken on a writing project that will be taking up most of my free time for several months so my time here is kind of sporadic. Always in catch- up mode.
Thanks for the kind review.

I loved this very much. I particularly liked:
'almost everyone around me was wearing wrinkles'
and
'navigate the rooms of our childhood home as well as that of our grandparents' (Yes, I do that as well).
'deep- seeded appreciation of our mom's efforts' ('deep-seated')
Very well done indeed.

Thanks for the great review and the bonus star. I wrestled with that when I was writing it, couldn't remember if it was seeded or seated.

Now, this is a departure--a prose piece and longer than any work I've read of yours in the past. As usual, however, the artwork you selected parallels the mood perfectly. I like the notion of finding a new word in life's vocabulary, and your clever way of describing it as "reserved in invisible ink at the end of my dictionary in invisible ink"--I can personally relate. (My mother was also a seamstress!) Here's to the memories, and I too hope the "final chapter" is long! An excellent, thought-provoking memoir. Good luck in the contest- Joan

I've done a few prose pieces. Some as long as 3,000 words, believe it or not. Spiritual Echo is always encouraging me to do more. Thanks for the great review. Weekend is drawing to a close, can't wait till the next one.
Have you seen any updates on Maureen or Brooke?
-
I'm glad you paid attention to Spiritual Echo's encouragement, since I admired your prose piece.
I haven't seen any updates--I even searched Brooke's profile page for clues. I want to think no news is good news... -J

I'll bet this will get many readers thinking back when. I like the idea of reconstructing the rooms in each house. My husband has short term memory and rambles on about his life in the air force over fifty years ago. As for the bad times, lose those images. We are what we choose to remember, someone once said.

Thanks for reviewing. I hink that is the difference between remembering and reminiscing. The latter sheds all of the shit.
