Walking and puffing his cigar- sounds like me, just substitute a cigarette. Virtually everyone in the subdivision knows me from my dog walks...I'm a regular Mr. Rogers lol. Like your portrait of a neighborhood character.

"People Poem", that is really a nice category for the poems you write on describing people where you have drawn your inspiration to write about them. This is another effective and excellent write. Thanks for sharing.

A scene that could take place almost anywhere the senior member of the family.

You do get a good visual while reading. I picture my Grandfather, now long gone I'm afraid. Though I myself am a grandad and the picture could be me. lol.

Good poem.

:) Mel.

G'day Teresa, I love people watching and you have portrayed this bloke well. This is a great idea you have come up with and there should be no shortage of fodder. Well done and well written. Cheers Fez

A very good poetic portrait of this portly old fellow out walking and puffing on his cigar. You give us a nice porchside purview of the neighborhood. Puffing along in a cloud of smoke.

Yes, Teresa, I can see him, and he's a friendly sort - not too friendly, mind you, just courteous. Normally keeps his distance, but would be there if you needed him, the kind of neighbour who can respect boundaries. There might even be a sad story in the background - a wife who's passed on, perhaps?

Ah yes, I could build a whole character out of the wonderful description of him in your free verse. As always, well done to capture the 'mood' and enable your reader to 'picture' the scene.

You wrote an excellent "people" poem! It amazes me that you used so few words, but I feel like I really know Terry; you make every word count. That gray tee, denim shorts like he always wears, I can just see it. I picture so much more about him from the cigar, his wrinkled, tanned/weathered skin, and his stuck-in-his-ways personality...doesn't like change. Very well written!

He is determined and has that attitude that he is invincible, so he can do what he wants. Thus he walks, but still smokes.
Glad to get to know him a little better.
Well done.

Well done. I like to write this kind of poetry too. I really do get it.
You painted a very nice portrait with words.
This kind of poetry stands out above the rest.
I wouldn't change a thing. Please keep writing. I will be looking for future works from you.

You make it very easy, Teresa, to picture this fellow. It's no wonder he's puffing along if he smokes a cigar every day. At least he's walking and getting a little exercise! I just love your free verse, my friend--another winner here!
