What a beautiful tribute to your dad. It's nice that he can be remembered in a fond way. There are some dads that, unfortunately have not earned those kind remarks, sad to say.
Although you are speaking of someone who has long gone to be with the Lord, it probably still hurts, because you obviously loved your dad very much, and miss having him around.
It's nice to know that you will meet him by the river; not everyone can say that of their family, although we wish we could.
That's why we have to keep praying for those of our family and friends who don't yet know the Lord, and point others to Him as well, so that they too will meet at the river.
Good job!

Thank you so much for your kind comments. Yes, I loved my Dad very much and there is not a day in thirteen years I haven't thought of him and missed him.

Hi Jo--
This is very touching and you keep the "mystery" of it, that you're father's dead to the end. That is very effective. I did not have the kind of relationship with my father that results in this kind of splendid memoir and feeling.

Couple of minor problems:

We've began going to church with her, too. It thing "begun's" what you want here.

the squirrel's No apostrophe needed.

Thanks. Glad to see you here.

Thanks for catching my goofs. I will correct. My husband never knew his Dad. I always have a tender spot in my heart for those who did not. My dad was one of a kind...I don't know of anyone who did not like him.

Hi, Justjo,

this is a heartwarming letter. I really like the parts where you write about memories.

I didn't live with my parents until I was almost eight. My grandma took care of me when I was little. The lack of communication I had with my dad when I was a kid created a lot of misunderstandings.

Hugs

Amanda

I don't think I'll ever get over losing my dad. I miss him every day. It's good your family takes the time at Christmas to honor your dad. Thanks for your kind review.

What a beautiful letter/tribute to your father. You are blessed that you had a good relationship with your father, not everyone has had that. I enjoyed the read and keep on writing.

Fez, you are too kind. Thank you so much for the six stars. It touches my heart, too, that this letter struck a tender spot in your heart. I am so blessed to have a loving family. We aren't perfect and neither was my dad but my heart aches for him every day.
I can't wait to see him again.

Awww, that's sweet.

This is a very nice letter to your father for father's day. I like how you update him a little on what's going on in your life. Seemed the kind of thing one would actually talk about when talking to his/her living father.

I'm not sure there is a river, but it's nice to believe there's one, isn't it... Either way, the sentiment in this letter makes it worth reading. Great job.

Christian, thank you so much for reviewing my letter and giving me 5 stars. If there is a river, and I truly believe what the Bible states "that there's a river flowing from the throne of God." Then my Dad will have found it by now and will be sitting at it (if allowed) and fishing. It was his favorite pass time here on earth.

Revelations: 22;1 Then he showed me a river of the water of life, clear as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb, 2- in the middle of its street. On either side of the river was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations

Very interesting: I love studying the Bible, not because I'm one of the faithful, but because of how it stirs my imagination.

The tree of life is related to this, and the water in the river is referred to as the water of life. Okay, here's my crazy Sci-Fi oriented mind at work. What if the river is not a river at all, but the flow of time. God, the angels and the spirits/souls of the dead are not constrained by linear time, but to us who live (inside the water of life) are bound by linear time. To the spirits/souls who pass from this physical life into the realm of God, time would appear as a river, flowing out from the throne of God. The spirits/souls could then walk along the banks of that river and choose to observe or even immerse themselves at any point along the length of that river, seeing life through the eyes of the living, reliving their lives or experiencing the lives of others.

Or it could just be a river... with fish.

    lol

Such a tender and touching letter. I am sure your father is happy to know that you miss him and that you are taking such good care of your mother. Joyful memories are treasures with more than any money. You are lucky to have them. God bless.

Wow, this is a very touching letter of remembrance for--or rather to--your father. I can tell that you loved him very much. Both my parents are still alive, so I can only imagine how painful it must have been to lose him.
