I like the message in this poem. It covers life in general I think, for really we have no choice to keep going some times as the alternative only sends us down darker paths. As a writer we have to just get the words out weather they follow any rules or not. Good for you

Well done, Carolyn, This is certainly a good message of faith. The rhymes are very nice. The rhythm could be better, but so what? It's the message that counts. Praise the Lord. :>D Miss Sally

Hi Carolyn,

You did a great job in writing this poem. I loved every word of it. I really enjoyed reading your author notes too and also the scripture you put up. I think your poem should go far. Lately I can't seem to think of anything to write. My forgetfulness is dragging me down.

This meets the contest requirements beautifully. The construction is flawless as the meter is solid and the rhyme simply perfection. I love the way you have used a well known bible story as the basis to convey an example of a simple modern day miracle which happen all around us when we have faith. I wish you all the best in the judging and thank you for sharing it.

Excellent entry into the faith poetry contest. I love parables as to me they are the best way to reveal truths without coming across as pedantic and cliché.

Wonderful poem that illustrates the power of faith.

Best wishes to you in the contest.

That's a lovely poem Carolyn, and I agree with your notes, we shouldn't get tied down with poetry rules and restrictions, it should always be about the message the writer sends to people, leave all the technical stuff to the egotistical elitists, just enjoy what you write and write about what you enjoy and what you believe in, that's my philosophy.
Nice job, well done

Beautifully stated, Carolyn. God tells us if we have the faith of a tiny mustard seed, we can move mountains. It was interesting the metaphor you've used here, about the old fisherman whose family has all grown and flown the nest, so to speak, so that just he and his wife remains. Some of the most beloved verses in scripture on faith comes in Matthew 14:13-21, when Christ feeds the multitudes.

This is a wonderful poem. You've done a fantastic job with this one!

The message for me was that sometimes to need to try a different approach and not take God for granted. He will help those who help themselves.

This is a refreshing faith story poem. You are correct in stating in your notes, "I am not as concerned with the perfection of the poem as I am about the message." You used Biblical references to story to craft your message with familiar pictures and words. I enjoyed the ease and softness of your poem with a solid core of faith. Thank you for sharing and I wish you success in the contest.
