What a wedding! I'd stretch this with a little more dialogue. It seems a lot of telling although very enjoyable. Show me more. Does Frank ever have anything to say? The in laws are a hoot. There must be something else they could say. Did you overhear a story?

Frank and Carol get their chance to take the stage in the next post. But not at the wedding itself. Although Jeff does more than just acknowledge his mother.

Wow , two sixes from me in a row but worth it. I read this and was spell bound. I read it and was hoping you were kidding and knew you weren't. Doesn't your son-in law realize this is your daughters special day? He sounds like a 'me me me ' kind of guy. I can't wait to read the next chapter. I love all your imagery. It felt like I was right there and as you can tell , I am a little more traditional. Sorry! Love this chapter. Glad you held your temper! Shirley

Hugs and kisses for both sixes (Who said I couldn't rhyme. LOL)
I have a video of the wedding so the details are accurate. Your right about Nichole being in the background. More obvious in the next post. She didn't seem to mind. After all, the guests were all his friends except her few relatives and Tracy.

Hmm, quite a free-spirited wedding. I've only attended the more traditional red-neck version myself. Great descriptions that capture the perfect moment so well. I t does seem a tad bit bizarre, but it is their very special moment. Good chapter, Spitfire.

Even the invitations noted the wedding as a production. I'm a free spirit myself and loved it. My own wedding was quite small and forgettable.

No, Shari, you don't really wish you had done that. It might have destroyed your relationship with your daughter.

Good grief! I can't believe the music he chose.

Huh? Did the priest really say Snow White and Dopey?

This wedding was so surreal! If you had written it as a script, I think someone in Hollywood would have wanted to produce it. Hugs, Lou

I have a video of the wedding that I've watched three times since writing this. Played parts back to get the exact dialogue.
Actually, if I had thrown pizza in Jeff's face, he would have loved it! My daughter said later that the comment was his idea of humor!
Not knowing the title of the chosen songs, the music worked okay for me with the exception of The Godfather which didn't flow with the rest.

I've never heard of a ceremony like this before, was it legal? I think this would have upset me more than Jeff's insult, it is obvious your daughter was just as eccentric as he, I hope you and Frank did not let anything else upset both of you any further.

The worst insult is yet to come, although Frank was far more miffed than I. Eccentric, that's a good word to describe, I suppose. She uses another term to describe them both when she reads her personal vows in the next post.

Can't wait! You are mean stopping at this point, but at least it gives us something to look forward to.

Well done you controlling your reaction at the rehearsal. As you say, it would only have alienated you, and probably upset Nichole.

By the sound of it, Jeff's uncle summed up the match perfectly. Now you've forewarned us about his teary breakdown, I can just imagine it (along with the image of the elephant man!)

throw a hot slice of pizza (and) into Jeff's face

I was pleased. ()Jeff had made a soundtrack

Fixed the spags and caught another. :-)
I did tell N. about the upsetting comment later. "He was being funny," she said. Not the right place or time to play comic!

LOL! Love the last line! You've said before that Jeff was not good looking. I wonder then what attraction Nichole had to him. Or maybe to her he looked just fine. Love is strange that way.

The ceremony sounds rather nice, actually. I like to see people do things differently, myself. Shows they're not sheep. :)

You're one of few who agree with me that the ceremony was indeed lovely. The costumes that guests wore did not detract at all. Jeff's face isn't all the bad. He has a big nose and inverted V shaped eyebrows and not much of a neck. But I have seen worse. He does have a time finding a hat to fit him, because he really has a large head.
reply by Phyllis Stewart on 02-Jun-2015
My hubby has a large head. We went shopping for cowboy hats and the hat store didn't even carry his size. I always tell him he needs a big skull to hold his giant brain, and he is the smartest man I've ever known, so there's something to be said for a big head. If Jeff worked out a lot and bulked up, his head would look more proportional. Mark's always at the gym. Brains and brawn both... I'm a lucky lady. :)

Brains and brawn sounds delicious. You are lucky. Is your hubby a Leo? My aunt, the astrologer, said Leos often had large heads. True of my nephew Bobby.
reply by Phyllis Stewart on 02-Jun-2015
No, Hubby is a goat, Middle of January bday. My dad, another big head, was a Leo tho. Nasty temper, but a sweet guy otherwise. :)

The wedding is certainly not the ordinary. But with Nicole I did not expect that it would be. :-) Snow White and Dopey, I can't wait for the remainder of this scene. Priceless, although Jeff seems a bit strange, he does seem to love Nicole. The tears bring credence to that thought.
Great writing Shari,
:-) Carolyn

For sure, Carolyn, he's devoted to her, moreso than she is to him these days. Some big surprises coming especially four years away-- and no, it's not babies and never will be.

HA! I had to read the last line twice to make sure I'd read it correctly. HA! I loved it.

This wedding seems full of tension from everyone. However, during the ceremony, everything seemed to cool and move smoothly.

I think this chapter was written very well. Especially the descriptions of the masks and the decor. Your feelings and what you'd like to have said and done to Jeff, brought a big smile to my face. But you held your temper and allowed things to flow smoothly for your daughter.

I really enjoyed reading this wonderful chapter. I love weddings. Best wishes, my friend. I can't wait to hear how the end of this wedding turns out.

Always with respect,

Thanks, Eigle. Appreciate your detailed review. My stomach is acting up, so it may be next week before I get to the next chapter.
