This is a fabulous masterpiece. I was hosting a Crown of heroic sonnets contests on FS for four years in a row, and can really appreciate this form, one of the most difficult in Poetry, when it is flawlessly done.

The plot, the imagery, the execution are all superb. You portray a heroic personality, and what a perfect form you found for that!

I have a great fondness for all nautical, so your dary seafaring voyage really appeased me.

I am awed and very, very much impressed by your craft. This offering could have won our contest had you been here a year ago.

Here is the link to my contest entry from the last contest, and there you could see the link for the contest. Frankly, it was the best in years. The quality of entries was superb.

Again, congratulations on the fabulous achievement, my friend. I always believed that writing a crown if heroic sonnets elevates one's poetry to a next level.

WOW MAN! You are amazing at this poetry caper mate. That is one of the all time greatest pieces of poetic art that I have ever had the good fortune to read. You are a star Sir. Whta a great and brave dude this guy was, he retired at 71yo, crikey!

This may or may not be a typo....

"ratlines used like a ladder by sailors ascendind(ascending)." (From your notes).

Well done and cheers, Fez

I am terrified of water and are grateful for men and women like these that risk their own lives to save others. This is very well done.
Take care.
Christelle.

By and large this is an amazing feat.
I've read and re-read... and I will keep reading
through the years... most likely even after you are
frayed from the bottom of your soles. :)

I've so much noise around me at the moment, but wanted to make sure
that I have this well deserved SIX STAR RATING left for you.

You know that I adore EVERYTHING you've written, and this is no exception...
I would like to point out that (as I believe Gloria has already stated) "awards' and 'assured' do not, in any dialect or language, rhyme. (sorry) :(

:)
ok, my work here is done.

Thank you for this amazing review and those wonderful six stars. Awards and assured are an approximate rhyme in my opinion when spoken nin a plummy English accent like what I have got! Any international site will have this problem. Tomato potato lets call the whole thing off! Seriously though I am glad the piece gave you pleasure.

"Mae West" was also the call of a ship or person in danger. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words. There is good imagery and descriptive scheme.

I cannot imagine the bravery needed to go out in all kinds of weather conditions to rescue desperate people from sinking ships. And facing the heartbreak of failing to rescue all of them. A fitting tribute to a brave man and his crews.

Hi Pantygynt - this is a marathon of a story - seven poems in one. Very well told in consistent abab rhyme throughout. You tell of a very brave, yet modest man who worked long after retirement age at a job that some men would cringe at the thought of doing. A crown of heroic sonnets - heroic in more ways than one - I don't think these men employed in this dangerous job are fully recognised by the public. But Blogg was very well recognised for his work with all those impressive medals. You have told the story incredibly well - keeping the rhyme throughout in a long factual story is not easy - Bravo. Warm regards Dorothy x

The Crown and Heroic Crown of Sonnets - both forms marvelous vehicles for the telling of epic tales... especially historical accounts. This is a monumental achievement, Sir! I've written 2, and each one took weeks to accomplish, so I understand the work, time and commitment required to finishing such a task.

Bravo! A rare gem of a piece! It is epic... and well told. I can 'hear' your voice in the telling, as well as the thrashing of the sea, and the desperate calls of the sailors praying to be saved.

If (by chance) you're working on another Crown... or perhaps have one hidden up your sleeve... you might consider hanging on to it for a bit - there is a Crown of Heroic Sonnets contest here on FS every year. Not sure when exactly - I think it's usually in early spring.

Warmest regards,
Christina
