Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

I never given birth, but I know from my sister how much it changes a woman and the miracle of it all. You pointed out the strong love a mother has for her child and the journey to do so. This gives her that special something needed to love a child whether they turn out to be a genius or killer.

"Mother's love
There's no substitute"- This is what people say when confronted or witnessing a real mother and not someone who just has babies. Beautiful flash non-fiction piece and photo.

Hi there,

This is the second one I have read on motherhood, both ending with a short poem. This is a well written, very short piece. Although, being a father, I may disagree with some of your statements!

Nice piece and good luck in the contest.

This is a lovely image and poem:) I like especially the juxtaposition at the end of "mother's love" with "manhood's might."
The reason I've given this four rather than five stars is that although it is very good for what it is, a poem, that is what it is--a poem. It simply is not even in the broadest sense of the term fiction or a story--which requires at least one character striving toward some goal, meeting opposition, moving toward climax and then resolution.
Again, nice work. Thanks for sharing.

Motherhood makes girls into women. Without our mothers we feel lost, alone, scared, and incomplete as children. It is a brave thing, I would imagine, to have another child, at least based on what I saw in the delivery room. If men had to carry and have babies, our civilization would simply die and wither away. Why? Because there's no way we'd do it.

God's Hero was a lovely, thought provoking short poem which conveys a great deal in so few words.

Well done, and good luck! ~Dean
