Very nicely done. As a grandparent, I agree with you about the exhausting bit.
Typos/SPAGs:
'Their was always a, "Grammy, come," or "Grammy, play with me," (There)
'a huge request after doing its once was' (it).

Adorable kids! Every bit of this story works for me. Love it! Put the last few lines in the present-tense to match the rest of the writing, and you've got perfection!
Sorry, it's the editor in me....

Thank you for the attention to the detail. No need to be sorry.

Cute story, John. I was exhausted just reading about the energy level of these three kids! And, you're right--you need to be young enough to deal with that energy.
I loved your "eavesdropping". The broccoli in the milk was priceless though.

Good plot. Easy to follow story line. Plenty of smooth flowing action. Descriptive language well used throughout this story.

I never imagined how entertaining grandchildren would be, before I had my 6, I love to listen to their little voices and conversations so innocent and amusing. I am guilty of hiding and listening in.
Your story is entertaining to say the least.
Well done, Mary

Hi there,
this was an entertaining little piece. I have an almost four year old at home and I often wonder what goes on in her head! Her cousins were around on Sunday - nightmare - they are 2 and 7. The youngest is a bully and the eldest soft and more immature than my little one! All the screaming and so on for five hours!
To make it worse, the cousins are bi-lingual, so it was in English and Japanese!
Anyway, nice write and enjoy the solitude - I know I am.
