That we share today

The families that care for their needs
I honor you this day as well
Thanks for the service your husband gave
Thank you for the service that is rendered now each day
The line for the Viet Nam Vets I thank you for sure
We have suffered many times but now we are filled with pride
Because our sacrifice has built the knowledge to honor the soldier all the time

The stars are for you and your husband. I am also a Vietnam vet. I served ten years but was never in an actual war zone. In the past I wouldn't even acknowledge being a vet because I didn't feel I earned it like your husband. I am over that now. I was a geek (electronics etc.) and we needed them too. Shake your husband's hand for me and God, please bless this Great Country and this poet and her husband.

A good acrostic and a worthy entry to the contest. Well constructed and thought out. You mention, in particular, Vietnam, a vicious war that is sometimes dwarfed into obscurity by all the documentaries and programmes devoted to the 2 world wars, particularly WW1. Thanks so much my friend, what an honor it is for me having received a six star rating from you. My husband is a Vietnam and Gulf War veteran. He is also total disabled; I witnessed him crying after watching a program on TV honoring all the fallen heroes and Veterans of World War II. His tears touched my heart and inspired me to write this poem, "thank you my friend for your service in protecting our country." Blessings Portia
