Well I just love it! This is a wonderful contest entry, fun to read and reread. You found very creative ways to use the called for words and you made the piece flow, it does not feel forced which can happen when there are constraints like word choice! Good job and good luck in the contest.

WOW. what a well written, creative poem. It is so very well written and thought through. Such a happy, cheerful poem. The art you chose is perfect. You used all the required words for your contest in your poem. Had you not pointed them out, the reader never would have known they were words that had to be used. You created a poem around them perfectly. Thank you for the smile and for sharing. Very well done.

You are right! This is just delicious when read aloud. I wish I had a young audience at hand! You have skilfully woven this disparate group of words into a cohesive storyline. I remember with great fondness one summer lying in the long grass above Fingel's Cave in the western isles of Scotland, watching the puffins soaring and wheeling about the sheer cliff face that was their home. What a glorious kingdom they had - replete with fish, but short on muffins!

Hah, I did read it aloud, Anonymous Poet, and do you know what? It reminded me a great deal of those Dr. Suess books I used to read to my kids when they were young. And, since I am a huge fan of Dr. Suess, I found this to be exceptionally well done.

Great poem, for kids and adults who are young at heart alike.

Good luck to you in the contest. ~Dean

Dr Seuss was great at that dactylic rhythm too Dean - I have always been a huge fan! Also is used in a lot of Australian 'bush' poetry - glad you enjoyed the puffins! What a crazy prompt!
