Trust me, I was grateful Jeff's mother took over and I lived three thousand miles away.

G'day Shari, great chapter mate. Doesn't Jeff's attitude just scream off the page here? That is a crazy way to conduct a wedding! You have once again written it beautifully and I hope you get your computer issues sortewd so I can read the next chapter. Cheers Fez

Thanks, Fez. Hope the Advanced Editor works next time. Jeff's personality comes through loud and rude in the next post.

"I hate when I'm asked to be a bridesmaid and am forced to buy an expensive gaudy ruffled dress that would insult even a bag lady. I want the girls to buy something they like and will wear more than once." Nichole said .. wise girl! I think those ghastly bridesmaid outfits peaked in hideousness in the eighties, didn't they?

A costume wedding ... wow, Shari, that must have been a tough pill to swallow.

You make this biography so compelling. Looking forward to the next post.

Love,

Sonali xxx

we drove her and bridesmaid(,) Candy(,) to the wedding

I loved the idea of a costume wedding. Not tough to swallow at all. I don't know when the outfits became so awful. You wouldn't believe the outfits at one of cousin's wedding. Everyone looked like Heidi! Thanks for catching the nit.

Weddings can be stressful. It looks like there is a lot going on. The next chapter looks to be one full of drama. It certainly appears to be an unusual wedding with a masquerade style atmosphere, but people get more creative all the time. Here's looking forward to the next chapter, which you have set up beautifully.

This creativity was a forerunner of its time. Today, it wouldn't stand out as unique. I loved the idea and should have had a good time. Sigh...

I hate it when the Advanced Editor decides to be uncooperative. A wedding is a tension filled occasion, which makes it easy for family members to get cross ways.

In the end, that's what I decided. Nichole had a lot to be tense about. Next chapter.

i think she is mad at herself for knowing she has disappointed her parents, the wedding seemed like a play party, i kind of want to hear the rest, but then again i dont.

I think you're giving her too much credit. LOL

I've been to a couple of wedding where all the wedding party is dressed in black, and it's beautiful. Themed weddings are becoming more and more popular, too, but as parents of the bride, weird and odd are things you don't expect or want for your daughter's wedding. Such hurtful comments right before the wedding sure can put a damper on an occasion that should be full of happiness.
Smiles,
Karyn :-)

It was really bad timing. In 1999 themed weddings were still a novelty.

I take it Brooke is your daughter and you don't like Tim. LOL at what I'm visualizing right now.

I'm so sorry. This wedding sounds like a nightmare, yet I find myself wondering what comes next. That's what you're after, right? My only suggestion would be to animate it even more, using more dialogue and action. I did like the exchange with Nichole. I think the premise of the wedding itself is rife with opportunities for such conversation - or maybe you were holding your lips together with Superglue, trying not to say anything? There's opportunity there, too, I think, to describe the process you must have gone through to keep your mouth shut. Also, what comments were made that were hurtful and caused resentment? That could be a nice opportunity for dialogue, action, and explaining what comes next. Just some suggestions, humbly offered as always.

The next chapter will have more of that. I decided to get the description of the wedding out of the way first, then flashback.
My muse told me it might be easier or maybe I've avoiding painful memories. I may rework it later. Thanks as always for your input. I do appreciate it.

Holy Moly Mamma - I never heard of a wedding party wearing black. Well, at least those dresses could serve double duty at a funeral.

Wait a minute, this is getting really cool. I love the idea of guests wearing costumes. You haven't mentioned how you and Frank were dressed (traditionally, I'm guessing.)

OMG - I can't believe Frank said that. It reminds me of the line from the movie, "Terms of Endearment" where mother Shirley Maclaine told her daughter she didn't want to be a hypocrite and thus didn't go to her wedding.

Wish we could have dressed up, but we stayed in black. To this day, Nichole's wardrobe reflects her obsession with black. I would never have forgiven myself for missing her big day even if I had negative feelings about the groom.
