This is so cute!!

I might get a kitty someday. Don't know when...hopefully soon.

I've always adored cats (even though most cats I've met in the past ignored me when I was near them).

Mikey, this brought tears to my eyes. About a year ago a black kitten, no more than two months old, appeared at our deck in my house in Long Island. We've been feeding him all this time. He is so sweet, though semi feral. We named him Lyolik. When the rough winter hit NY, we bought him one of those "barn homes" for pets, to protect from snow and rain.

Your poem reflects the dream of every feral cat. Such a great poem! He looks so snuggly behind that blanket. I thought of Lyolik when I read it. Congratulations on coming second.

Blessings, Y.

I'm so pleased with all the entries. A great competition. I was happy to finish second among the great entries. I'm delighted you liked it. If you pick up a feral kitten and hold it to your chest, once it feels your warmth and hears your heartbeat it will become tame. You'll have to endure some hissing and scratching though!!! mikey

Such a sweet picture and a very nice poem. Each compliment the other. I once rescued a white feral kitten. She had one blue eye and one green eye. Very sweet cat.

I love the picture. I love the poem. I am assuming the 'old man' is you. The kitten seems pretty contented. The wild kitten is more than happy to put up with domestication. Great work.

So beautiful, and the picture is perfect with it. Now, I'm so confused. I don't know whether to vote for your haiku or mfowler's. They're both wonderful. I wish you the best in this contest. I love this entry.

Hi Michael. These are interesting entries in this haiku contest. I enjoyed the innuendo in your piece and love the juxtaposition between the "feral kitten" and the "old man." Great grammatically connected phrase to show the image of the kitten in a soft domestic paradise. Best of luck in the contest. Sue

This haiku about kittens, feral kitten, seems to be pointing in the opposite direction of what one might expect from a wild cat.

I really enjoyed this. My neighborhood is filled with feral cats and getting close to one of their kittens is a difficult job. Great work with this, what little bundle of sweetness wouldn't do well with a little love and comfort. EXcellent entry for this contest and I sincerely wish you all the best.
