Oh my gosh, a most adorable chapter!
Except for reality sinking in, that the other staff and customers wouldn't be nearly so enchanted with Nadzia!
I'm afraid poor Igor might not fare so well if he keeps playing the role of Uncle Igor!

Everyone loved this chapter, even if they didn't like mice! As you now know, Nazdia does cause some complications, but at least they inspire Laura to give him a home. Alexis xxx

What a sweet chapter. Igor is fast becoming my favorite character, I love his ways, and now we discover he's an animal lover. I suspect that soon enough there'll be evidence of more and more mice in the kitchen.
Some suggestions:
"So what kind(s) of things did you cook..."
No need for a speech tag here:
'Do you think a Polish evening would go down well here at the Bedford?' Karen asked him after she finished her refreshing spritzer and started to unbutton her chef's jacket. (Try: Karen finished her refreshing spritzer and started to unbutton her chef's jacket. "Do you think a Polish evening would go down well here at the Bedford?"

Yes, Igor is fast becoming a favourite character in the book. He and Patsy are complete contrasts to Laura, Karen and Jenny, so are great fun to write about. Alexis x

Well spotted. I have now changed one of them. Thank you so much for your help. Alexis x

You have created an interesting character in Igor, someone we all have to like, strange as he seems, and one of those people whom we can't help but wish the best. :-)

Yes, Igor is turning out to be very popular. I better make sure he doesn't steal the whole show! Alexis x

Hahahaha! Great work mate at least now he has some company. I am enjoying this yarn mate, it's fun. But what I would do with the mice is this (to answer your question from the other day, sorry it's taken so long.)...
Skin, gut and wash some fat mice without removing their heads. Cover them in a pot with ethyl alcohol and marinate 2 hours. Dice a piece of salt pork or sowbelly and cook it slowly to extract the fat. Drain the mice, dredge them thoroughly in a mixture of flour, pepper, and salt, and fry slowly in the rendered fat for about 5 minutes. Add a cup of alcohol and 6 to 8 cloves, cover and simmer for 15 minutes. Prepare a cream sauce, transfer the sauteed mice to it, and warm them in it for about 10 minutes before serving.
Cheers Fez

Lol, I can just imagine you doing that, Fez! It's a recipe I hope I never have to cook, but the way you put it, it sounds delicious. Thank you! xxx

A well-written chapter with a likable Igor. The story flows with hints of trouble to come. A pregnant Nadzia, Karen who does not like mice, Igor who does and traps that do not work. That is a formula for interesting things to happened. Good job.

Hopefully it will result in a couple of fun chapters in the future. Fingers crossed! Alexis x

Very fun chapter. I like that Igor likes mice (not a fan) but hey, fun to read. :-)
I know we've already talked about showing more vs. telling so other than that it was great!!

I'm not either, but my research proved that there are a lot of people out there who are. They even have designer mouse cages and special toys available on the internet. Beats me! Alexis x

Oh my gosh. Igor is trying to make friends with a pregnant mouse. That doesn't bode well for the restaurant if he fixed all the traps. Sigh...

But it does make for some interesting scenarios to come! Any suggestions? Alexis x

You don't need suggestions. You're doing fine on your own. Maybe when Igor can afford his own place, he can take all the mice with him. :-)

I think I missed this one Alexis :) You have definitely been a busy bee writing.
You are doing a super job writing the character Igor. He is funny with the way he talks & you definitely put that description of him in my head. It seems so sad that he is making friends w/a mouse and even named her. He needs a good woman. LOL! :)
This was another short chapter, but another great one!
BTW ... I thought the photo you put on this chapter fit it perfect. Cute!
Shana :)

No you didn't miss it, it's just that I posted it just after you'd reviewed the ones you missed while you were away. He certainly does need a woman as you say. I just hope she doesn't need to look like a mouse and have whiskers! Alexis xxx

I'm sorry Alexis I have to confess I read this after the earlier one, but I don't think it makes much difference, completely different stories! Well done with this one Igor making contact with a mouse he calls Nadzia, which he feeds choice cheese to her, and another piece to feed others. Well done, I wonder what will happen if mice become rife.well written, Alexis, blessings, Roy.

Any suggestions? Now I've created a mouse loving chef who sleeps secretly in a room next to the kitchen, I have to use it but not lose Igor his job. I think I'll let Nadzia have her babies before I write that chapter. I just hope it doesn't keep me awake at night! Alexis x

How about a telepathic mouse, or she has some sort of sentience, it would be a big step in the story, maybe a spinoff, with you imagination, possible, Nadzia is a great touch anyway you've wheedled her in this far! Good luck, Alexis
