A lovely song, and the story behind it is inspiring. Glad you were able to sing this song at her funeral, but it must have taken a lot for you to be able to do so. Wonderful words, you recounting all the wild things you did as kids but Mother loved you just the same. Such a great and true thought--Mothers never retire from that job. They worry and fuss over you until their dying day. Excellent line 'You can't get enough of mother's love." I know where my first six of the week is going to go. judi

Thank you for your comments and support. It was really hard singing this at her funeral. Somehow, I managed to get through it though. Appreciate it very much.

A beautiful rhyming poem of the everlasting feelings and memories of a mother's love and devotion during her lifetime which will always live on in the heart of her child as she treasures the times her mother was there for her throughall the ups and downs of life and is content in the knowledge that one day they will be together again. Very inspiring and comforting to one who has gone through the loss of a mother and delights in the wonderful memories of her love!

This, in your usual style is a fine tribute to the lady. I read your notes and couldn't give adamne what i give you or what I say, but i never obey instructions anyway. I think it is a fitting tribute and I'm not surprised she loved it when she heard it.

Thanks. I am not after reviews or stars with this one. Like I said in my notes I have already accomplished more with this song than any number of stars could possibly mean to me about it. Don't turn against me. Just oblige me to share this song with this wonderful site. Your comments and support are always appreciated.

It's very sad that you lost your mum, probably at a bad time in your life, if there is ever a good time to lose anyone! Beautifully written, the language is simple, expressive, with a nice even tempo/meter, the lyrics are well suited to music, did you have a chorus? It sounds unpretentious, is emotive without being flowery, well done, blessings, Roy,

These song lyrics resonated with me because my mother passed away several years ago. Mother's Day, since then, has become my least favorite holiday which always serves as a painful reminder. My mother, a Texan, loved "A Yellow Rose of Texas."

You wrote a sang a great tribute to your mother and all mothers. You spoke words I wish I could have said to my mother. I did not pay attention to the rhymes and lines; I paid attention to the heart and emotion of your poem which were spot on.

Thank you for your tribute. I am sorry for your loss.

Touching tribute. My mother was there for me growing up, which I'm thankful for. She was a stay at home mom. Sadly she has since rejected me, along with my father, all because of my religious choices. Such is life...

Hi Brett,

I loved the story you told about your mom with the beautiful yellow rose above it. I also liked the song you wrote for her. It would have been nicer if you would have been singing it. Still, everything was very enjoyable.

My tribute to the world's greatest Mother...mine"A Mother's Love" I doubt there is a living person who won't say their mother is the best in the world. A medal to all mothers. Very well done.
