A beautifully rhymed account of how drinking can take away the pain! Not to be advised, it is often the only way someone can cope when they have loved, lost, or are plain disillusioned by a huge disappointment.

Why not? As long as it doesn't last for long and ruin someone's life!

Well done, and good luck in the competition.

I love the words to your poem, even though it was sad. Some times heartaches never leaves your heart soul and mind.
Thank you for sharing.

This is celebrating with a difference. About someone who is, in fact, not at all happy but trying to get over the loss of love by celebrating with booze. The writer starts by saying he's managing on his own and hardly knows his love has gone, but it is only when he has had enough to drink that he feels that way. Well written. The words are good, and even though the meter which is uneven it does not detract from the beauty of the sentiment. A song like quality. Good luck in the contest. Warm regards Dorothy x

This song really puts perspective into the story and it is usually the route most goes after the break-up. Well done and good luck in the contest.

Ice cold beer on a cold rainy day? I would rather go for a cup of steamy hot chocolate :) This is well done and a little sad.
Take care.
Christelle.

Beer is used in celebrations much more than chocolate. Thanks for your comments.

As Roy Clarke so aptly put it, "Thank God and Greyhound, you're gone." Your entry is very well written with a very good chance of winning the honors. Good luck in your contest.

Now that's a sour view of celebrating, but an original one indeed. She left and somehow you call it celebrating because you should have stopped her. The celebrations that of a drunk drowning sorrows rather than raising a glass in happiness. The bar scene is a great scenario for express the soulful agony that this song portrays. An imagery of great hurt. This works as a song from best I can tell. Best of luck with the voters.

Your poem is sad. It may say the words of being glad she is gone, but the emotions you express, as well as your behaviors say you love and miss her terribly. It is written like a true country song. You have great rhyme and flow. I like it. Well done. Thank you for sharing. Good luck in the contest.
