Oh, what a fascinating story, Ine - I was out last night to the movies with an old friend, and the film we had planned to see was sold out. We instead watched one called "Woman In Gold" - this reminds me of it in some ways, and I haven't seen a movie I enjoyed that much in YEARS. Well done!

It's wonderful that Remembrance Day is still celebrated. You do a great job of telling about some of the observances. It's nice that they had the young girl to read her poem as part of the celebration. First paragraph, I think you mean though. They came back, though. It's a bit confusing about the prize. You probably mean something like "A young girl read a poem for which she'd won a prize." judi

Thank you for sharing your experience with Remembrance 2015, as well as the legacy of your own family during the war. As a Canadian, I am aware of how much the Dutch value the Canadian contribution to the liberation of your country. Also, we provided refuge for your Queen, whose daughter was born in an Ottawa hospital. For that, Holland sends us many tulip bulbs every year, a major contribution to our annual Tulip Festival in May.

This is a well written piece about Remembrance Day.
Remembrance Day must be something unique to The Netherlands.
Warm regards, Wendy.

Hi Ine - Remembrance Day is also celebrated in Britain. I am always moved by that 2 minutes silence. My father was killed in the war. I was a tiny child and can just remember him. Look forward to reading your translation of the poem. Warm regards Dorothy x

I'll be looking forward to that, Ine. I've seen young poets who could wow your socks off with some of the poetry they write. many of us should be so luckily to be graced with such amazing talent. I'm speaking for myself, of course, not you.

We do not celebrate Remembrance Day here in the U.S., but I think I get the general idea...

"Remembrance Day 2015" This was indeed a short version of a war story which I enjoyed reading, Ine. War stories are always inspirational and I love reading the private happenings of normal peoples actions during war-time. Well done.
