Andre Wilson was the narrator, so I'm taking that Sis Cat are one and the same.
I'm very outgoing in public, but not much of a public speaker. I think I could do an open mic night and read a poem, although I doubt I could recite one of my poems from memory, as you did. That alone was impressive.
However, unlike this beautiful poetic proclamation you've written here -- portraying who you are through poetry and vocalizing it at all costs...no matter what obstacles and challenges you might be faced with -- my poetry wouldn't be deemed open mic material, I'm afraid.
Excellent work, Sis Cat...or would you prefer Andre, now that the "Cat" is out of the bag, so to speak...heh-heh... ~Dean ;}

Yes, Dean, not all poems are open mic material. This is why I am thrilled FanStory gives me a place to share poems I cannot perform. Thank you for your review.

This is a very encouraging poem that you have chosen to speak to people with physical challenges, and for that I commend you. But, I also think it speaks to anyone who doubts themselves or have roadblocks to releasing their voice. Nicely written, and a wonderful message!

Share your poem by any means necessary. "Spoken Word" The spoken word is not for anyone and only for some who are specialised at it. But anyone disabled doing the spoken word, well, my heartiest congratulations, I admire that. well done.

Thank you, chasenov, for your encouraging review of my encouraging poem. Spoken word is not for everyone. Silence is a bigger enemy than embarrassment. We "voice" our poems by any means necessary.

You are most welcome.

Great subject: rather then the poem, the poet stage on mic. I fear the mic. Very educational piece and my first award winning encounter coming to remembrance. You struck the head of the nail: poet not able to read a word but recite a library. Well played in creativity. Definitely made my day.

An emotionally charged writing on
the talented voice that lies unheard
because the words are never spoken
because of a disability and the fright
of being different.
Your words bring to the forefront
the hard road that some must overcome.
Well done

Hi Andre,
That is wonderful and most inspiring. I hope this poem reaches the wall flowers who are too afraid to speak and braces their nerve.
I loved the poem, it is highly visual. Can really envision the valiant poets in your lines.
Best wishes, Alison

This is a well written free verse poem which gives encouragement to poets to share their poetry. I tried twice to read my poetry at open mic nights. Both times I made it up to the mic and barely made it through the poem without fainting from hyperventilation.
I like fanstory for an outlet and the encouragement the many wonderful writers here share with each other.

Yes, dragonpoet, FanStory is a great outlet for poets to share poems. I wrote more poems after I joined FanStory than I did before. I appreciate the feedback and encouragement here. I look forward to performing my poems at open mics again.

Stage fright, or just being fearful of speaking before a large crowd. I know all too well how that feels. I can do it, but I shy away from it. When I do speak in front of a crowd, you can hear the nervousness in my voice. This was a well written poetic voice on public speaking. I enjoyed reading and writing this response for it... John

Yes, John, for me the consequences of not speaking outweigh the consequences of speaking. I do not have a choice. Speak, die, or die trying. One way or another I strive to be heard. I am glad you enjoyed my poem.

You are a poet who does not need to speak ,you can use a pen and paper to paint that picture which can to appears in my mind through my eyes.
Outstanding!! And thank you.

This is a salutary lesson for all who would hide their light under a bushel. Unfortunately I don't believe there are enough open mics in the UK, maybe in the big cities, but not in the provinces.

Thank you for your kind review. There are a lot of poets, disabled and abled, on FanStory because there are no or few open mics where they are. If I ever return to the UK, I will find an open mic to perform. Thanks for your review.
