Remarkable poem and remarkable topic...one of those rare poems that opens windows and doors to our traditionally closed perspectives so that we can realize how very fortunate we are. And like you, I've heard some incredibly disabled people speak with inspiration that actually seemed to resonate power from their disability.

Yes, Megalips, many of them have a power that resonates from their disability. I am glad my poem opens windows and doors about what a poet can do. Thanks for your six star review.

Hi, Kat. what a wonderfully written and thought out poem:

"But I have yet to hear you
who cowers in the audience at open mics
who fears the voice whispered through quivered lips
unable to amplify the voice shouted within "

Bravo! Bob

Bob, thanks for your review and, once again, for your recommendation that I only post work with a dollar plus payout. Since then, every single post has been a blockbuster. Thanks again.

This is a great affirmation in free verse. I felt empowered after reading it and think it sounds great read aloud as well. A good piece of spoken word poetry with an important message about raising one's voice, no matter how scared and what the cost. I wish you much luck with the magazine submission.

Great idea to combine couples with an introduction and conclusion in 4 lines structure.
The use of senses to draw a picture of a poet is well defined. The last four lines dedicated to the audience is a wonderful addition to a good piece of art.
Thank you for sharing.

What a great way to describe all different kinds of poets. Even without the Author's notes I was able to see these people in my mind's eye from your very clear description.
What is fascinating is that even people with disabilities are able to have a voice and use it in public, whereas people, including myself, with a voice and even something worthwhile to say, are petrified. What gives?
Thanks for sharing, it gives me hope.

Yes, abbasjoy, I do not know what gives. I think we sometimes take our skills, abilities, and opportunities for granted. These poets with disabilities show us the importance of being seen and heard. Thank you for your glowing, six star review.

You are so right, about our taking our gifts and talents for granted.
It was my pleasure to give you 6 stars.

What an astounding subject matter for this highly creative poem. From time to time I think most poets write about poets, but this - this is brilliant. Highly evocative and excellent inspiration.

You know, I might just be tempted to read this one at the open Mic I run- with credit going to you, of course. Just recently, we had someone with panic disorder read as a way of conquering his fear- and he was great. The only handicap to reading at the Mic is fear. Excellent poem that demands to be read aloud.

Ravenblack, go ahead and read it at the open mic you run. My name is Andre Le Mont Wilson of Oakland, California. You can watch my video link to see how I performed it. The two greatest enemies of poets are fear and silence. Thank you for your six star review and I hope my poem encourages others to share theirs.
