That was deliciously disgusting! I've yet to be disappointed with your work. I plan on reading many more of your dark tales...

Bravo,
Master Philip

Hi Dean,

Ha ha,I don't know about a meal, maybe the kid would have made a good hors d-oeuvre...but the dessert sounds great!
Nice work with this chapter; loved the colorful setting and characters involved in the feast.
Definitely a good "yuck" factor, lol.
See you in the next one, Bill

As I have said before, it must be terrifying in your mind. This was deliciously disturbing and left me wanting more. Thanks for sharing the brilliance that is Dean Kuch.

    Not really, Sharon. I just write about what terrifies me most. Thanks very much for your comments and time spent reviewing this tiny tale of terror.

Uh oh, fruits of her labour doesn't sound good. I'd say that's some excellent foreshadowing there.

I love the envy quote too, so very true. Envy is such a noxious beast.

Whoa, now that's a grizzly little tale of horror. Both the main course and dessert. Yikes. Cannibalism is very strange and present with us today.

Bloody well done, Dean.

I think this would have to be one the scariest horror story I've ever read, Dean, although I just happened to read it now, it's well written, although I don't want to comment too much, ministered in your usual skill, Dean, well done, reviewing takes one into all sorts of places, the sexual ones I tend to leave alone! Good scribing, my friend, blessings, Roy.

    I tend to leave sex out of my writing as well, Roy. I'm not comfortable writing about sex in the slightest. Sadly, rituals just like the one I portrayed here do exist, and they are a blight on any civilized society and an abomination to God, Himself.

    Thanks so much for your review. ~Dean

So dessert will either be a breast or thigh...very gruesome. What is most impressive is how you set the scene in such few words. A baby (arterial) shower.

Dean you are so sick and I love it. I read this on the train and a few people side glanced at me as I squealed and groaned as I read the ending. I can't find anything negative to say about the structure or story.

Your writing skills, the verbs, the details are birthed with the pen of a master. This type of writing is what I'm striving for. You are the best writer on this site. This is coming from a reader who is not a big Horror Thriller fan!

    Heh-heh, I know, Muffins...I know, lol. So, it made you squirm just a bit, did it? That's precisely what a terror tale is intended to do, my friend.

    Thanks for the exceptional review and six star rating. I truly appreciate it, as I always do. ~Dean :}

Oh, Dean, you know you can scare me with
your tales, but I didn't like this one
at all - devouring a newborn baby - so
horrific - it
turned me right off.

    Sorry, Margaret. These sort of things do actually take place in satanic rituals, which is what this dinner party ultimately ended up becoming. The participants eat innocents because they feel it bestows them with supernatural powers. I realize I pushed the boundaries on this one, that's why I included the warning for excessive violence. I do appreciate you reviewing it objectively, however.

    I know you did, Dean - just it made my blood curdle.
    Mind you, I have a grandson who was a real cutie when small and such a happy character and I always felt I could eat him - now he's a teenager and the way he treats his mother makes me wish I had - that's a fact!! M

Well, this was different, I was not expecting the cannibalistic feast. I was reading along thinking Rose Mary's Baby when it turn into a long pig barbecue. Definitely original, and just a tad gruesome, but wait it wouldn't yours, if it wasn't. Right? ha, ha, ha Good stuff there, Dean.

    Thanks, Husker, and you're right, it wouldn't, heh-heh. I realized I pushed the boundaries a bit with this story. I even had a lot of trepidation on whether or not I should post it at all. But, the sad truth remains that these sorts of rituals actually exist, as the participants feel that by devouring an infant they gain super human strength and powers.
    Sad, but true.
    Thanks much for the review. ~Dean :}

Dean: having given birth three times to three daughters, I found this story to be traumatic to the point I am rather speechless. Gore galore, I do not want more. This one is BEYOND creepy! Out of sixers but you know I love it.

This morning I woke up to three words bouncing a
round in my brain, loudly proclaiming they want out: "in the darkness". I immediately thought of you. I'm not sure
where these three words will lead me but I'm thinking it may be scary . . . Linda

    Well, then you should most definitely write those thoughts down lest they begin to fester inside you, Linda. You know, writing is great therapy, or so I've often been told.

    Thanks very much for your comments. ~Dean
