I have never been to the bayou or had grits, but you make it come alive with the imagery you paint. I can hear the rain on that old tin roof. Now that I have heard.

I very much enjoyed the scene you captured along with the local color. You even included sound and abundant alliteration. Well done! Best wishes in the haiku contest- Joan

A interesting haiku of rain poring down on an old tin roof as the comfort of warm grits cook inside. Well written with an interesting comparison!

I so love the sound of rain falling on an old tin roof. One of the most calming memories I have, and to this day still love it. I don't think I know what grits are accept that they are some sort of southern pancake type food. However your words bring a very vivid image to mind. A great poem. Well done. Thank you for sharing. Good luck in your contest.

Grits are like a porridge and they are a southern food. I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Thank you

Thank you, grits are like porridge or like porridge pancakes. Sorry, I have heard of them but have never seen them. You are welcome.

I'm usually not a big fan of haiku.. but I'm glad I stopped to read your entry.. it was a fun little read and I enjoyed it! You're right on the money with the grits.. because that is exactly like both sound.. good luck to you!

I'm so glad you liked it, and I feel haiku on this site are very under rated because there are so many bad ones. Thank you

This meets the contest requirements splendidly in true haiku fashion. The first two lines of interconnected imagery are wonderful as they evoke all the senses in the well chosen wording. The satori wraps the package up neatly and creates a warmth to counter balance the coolness of the rain. I wish you all the best in the judging and thank you so much for sharing it.
