This is a very nice patriotic poem with a down-home flavor to it. The line, and title, "Strong Enough to Bend," is an important concept. The rhythm, rhyme and flow of the poem are well done. I'm curious to know if this is biographical. Were you there on 9/11? Good luck to you, Jeanie Mercer

This is excellent, It rhymes smoothly and it brought tears to my eyes. It made me proud of our country that seems to be declining in spirit. So glad you boosted mine. Excellent work~

A very uplifting and patriotic poetic proclamation portraying pure faith, love and hope for our great nation. Your rhyming is very good, and you utilize many poetic devices to their fullest advantages here, such as alliteration, enjambment and some stunning imagery form that terrible day we've simply come to know as 9/11.

Great work here. I truly enjoyed your stunning contest entry. Good luck, and may God always bless America...~Dean

My goodness how I remember that day, I was away from my home to be an inspirational speaker for a women's group. The day for me was totally unreal. Good luck in the contest. Patricia

This is an absolutely wonderful and patriotic song which you have composed here and it is also a tribute to the fallen of 911. Well done with this excellent entry and good luck in the contest,

Incredibly touching. 9/11 will be forever in our hearts.

I cannot imagine how it must have been for those who lost someone or witnessed events unfolding.

The last stanza conveys great hope for the future. America is a strong and powerful nation and I pray that peace will prevail.

best wishes Fiona

Like you my ways of life in American seemed to change.
I'm still a happy people but now I'm ore aware.
I thought about what is going on in Baltimore This is happen here and we are doing harm to our own people. Not the protester they march with no violence. What is wrong with those troubling children.

This is a righteous poem. I remember reading about Peril Harbor as a child and saw the movie recently. I take it that is what your poem is about. Good luck in the contest, and thank you for sharing.

Pearl Harbor? No my friend it is not. 9-11-2001 was when four American planes were hijacked by Al-Queda who crashed two of them into the World Trade Center towers in New York City, one into the Pentagon, and the fourth was crashed in a Pennsylvania field resulting in thousands of deaths. How soon we forget. Appreciate your comments though.

This is a fine lyric that will capture the imagination of of all true Americans wherever they may be, and many others, non-Americans like myself who rallied round you over the monstrous insult of 9/11. The final line of this lyric is a splendid oxymoron and reminds of the old Chinese proverb: "When the typhoon blows the bamboo bend in the wind." Best of luck in the contest. I'm sure this will attract votes.
