This read well to me. I like the ending so far. Why is there such a pressing need to get the book down to 100 000 words? I thought it did not matter if one published on-line. Just curious ....

Your absolutely right, the 104,000 it had reached wasn't the problem, the spurious amount of filler I injected before Christmas in an effort to get to 75,000 words, was! Now back down to 101,000, it all reads much better. Still not sure if self-publish is the way this is going, so I'm covering every option. Alexis x

Such a delightful story, Alexis! Romantic, sweet and entertaining. You mentioned you are editing your story, "Let's Talk Dirty". I assume you're readying it to be published?

Looking forward to the next chapter.

Yes, I'm concentrating on that before I continue with the Bedford. It will be nice to write a few chapters first so I'm not under so much pressure. Shouldn't be too long! Alexis x

Well, Laura's only having dinner, but at least he came. I deliberately stopped Jack from answering Laura's question about Caroline from London, but that leaves me an opener for the next book. Nearly there with the editing, so I'll then have a break before I get stuck in again. Thank you so much for your continued support. Alexis xxx

Yes, think it is a good idea you've come up with to tack these chapters on to the end of LTD. It does make a neater, more satisfactory, conclusion.

I don't think you should drive yourself out of your mind trying to get 100,000 words exactly, so long as it is ballpark and not wildly over. I think you said you were in the 103,000 - 105,000 range. I can't not see that as being a big deal.

Very good,

Alison

Hi Alison! I'm glad you agree. I think it will make for a more interesting start to the Bedford when I start the new one. Let's just say, out with the old, in with the new! My thanks again for taking the time to check this one out. Many thanks for the wonderful six. I know how precious they are!
    Take care, Alexis xxx

G'day Alexis. What do you mean a few months time...does that mean no more for now? This was another fantastic chapter that had more ups and downs that a roller coaster. Well done mate. Cheers Fez

Not until I get this bloody book (LTD!) sorted out. I think writing it was easier than editing it! You keep finding sentences you want to cut out, and others you want to rewrite. Oh the joy of writing! At least I don't have to review my socks off so I can post 5 times a week! I'm only reading what I want, your work especially. Take care, Alexis xxx

Sorry Alexis, I was on vacation Friday thru Sunday. I didn't have access to internet. Just read your new chapter.
Well ... this is a big surprise! :) I can't believe Karen took Mark back. That is a definite shocker. Who knows, maybe they can work it out. Her friend Laura is very sneaky and a great friend.
So glad to see Laura may have a new romance. How exciting!
Glad to hear things w/the girls are good, but I'm sure there is drama coming. :)
Shana :)

No need to apologise, I've been up to my eyes myself. Some people are surprised at the new ending, but as I said in my notes, this might be the new ending, but the 'new' beginning might be very different! I look forward to seeing you there when it happens! Alexis xxx

I am afraid I'm fairly confused about this one. Who on earth is this mysterious Pascal? He was in the resident's lounge having a glass of wine. Laura then went to lead him to the dining room (and presumably did so). And that's the last we hear of him apart from Jack's reference to the Frenchman Laura had told him she was seeing. Jack and Laura then go into the dining room to eat what I gather was the only available meal available in the hotel, presumably watched hungrily by the mysterious Pascal, who apparently had connections with Laura concerning the friendship sites. After careful quadruple-checking, I believe I have the answer. Pascal's meeting with Laura was an invention by Laura as part of her subterfuge to get Karen and Mark together. As accident would have it Karen's carefully prepared meal would be eaten by Laura and the completely unexpected Jack.

I hope I've got there in the end. I feel you need to do some clarification work for the benefit of poor old codgers like me!

Hi Adrian. I'm sorry if you found it confusing, but I thought my author's notes and the words 'Pretending Pascal was coming for dinner was a perfect smokescreen' would explain what was going on and why. I was never completely happy with the ending I chose for 'Let's Talk Dirty!' so it made sense to utilise the last three chapters I wrote for 'The Bedford' so I could start afresh with some new characters. Hope this explains everything!

Absolutely. It was me being as thick as two short planks. Nothing new there.

Nice surprise, for readers as well as for Karen, to see Mark there. Love that they got back together. And this "happy ending" stuff will make a perfect finish to the previous book.

I couldn't agree more, Phyllis. I now feel that LTD is a more 'rounded' book, and still leaves the opening for The Bedford to continue with more dramas from the women's lives.

This was well written, Alexis. I know the work involved as I have been editing some myself the last few days, even though my story is not finished. So does that mean you won't be here for a couple of months?

I just wanted to say that the word text at some point needed ed added. Good luck with the editing. I think it is the most important part of the writing life. Best wishes. Drew xx

I love it! I'm so glad you made the decision to get Mark and Karen back. And what a thrill to see Jack turn up. This sounds like the dreams I wrote in my mind when younger. Good luck with the editing part.

I'm so glad you liked it. I left so much up in the air at the end of LTD! I was relieved after I made the decision to let Karen and Laura have a man in their lives too. (can't let Jenny be the only one!) I doubt that will be the case when we get back to the Bedford, but only time will tell. Alexis x
