It doesn't sound very pretty (greasy grey mud flats, and I would imagine the marshland is smelly (brackish creeks). Brilliant word choices to create a mood of desolation:
sucked, from her hide and seek amongst the clouds,
down to the glutinous oblivion of the marsh
Every line is amazing. I prefer prose reading to poetry, but this shows craftsmanship in the genre. Six stars if I had any left.

    You're right, pretty it isn't, awesome in it's own way and wild, impressive etc. A number of adjectives spring to mind but not pretty. Thanks for reading and reviewing.

I live near salt marshes. It is a world unto itself. The unique birds and the turtles and snakes are amazing to see. Your poem was a true poetic tribute to this unique landscape. Beautifully written. Gretchen
