The confusion that may ensue will be beyond his comprehension. I do feel that if they are making this public for the media somewhere hidden from the eyes of the world, it has been done before. Doctors never advertise what may be a complete failure. This thought is very chilling

This is an interesting story. It is absurd, of course, since it's the nerve ending being cut that make it impossible to repair. Russian 'scientists' have been bilking people for ages with BS discoveries.

Interesting commentary on an impending operation which may revolutionise transplant surgery. Well explained details and significance of the operations. I spotted some errors: Para 4, patient's head, Para 5, stop him moving. Para 7, awakened from his coma. Para 12.....think that more time is needed for further research before...... Last line, Someone pulled my leg ages ago about brain transplants being possible. We shall see. Hope this was helpful. Faye

G'day Ine. Crikey mate! Whilst I enjoyed your very well written article I am not sure how I feel about the procedure. I have seen on movies people getting face transplants after commiting crimes and living rich. I guess if it helps someone I have to agree. As a health professional, what do you think? Cheers Fez

It is amazing to think that a head transplant would be possible, but for someone who is dying anyway, why not? Your details that it was successfully done on apes 40 years ago, and the special ultra-sharp blade plus gylcol glue make it seem feasible. I hope the Russian patient and Italian surgeon beat the odds! Thanks for sharing this newsworthy event- Joan

What an intriguing story. I don't doubt that its possible, but it won't save the life of the Russian he'll actually be the one donating his body to a brain. It will be an anazing achievement.

Very risky and dangerous surgery and mission involved. Medical advances
are often too enticing to too many Surgeons and Doctors. The 'quality'
of life for this man, after such surgery, is totally unknown and no case
history to go by. He may be worse off after the surgery. No one knows.
Thanks for sharing, Ronni

Wow! I don't know whether to believe this is possible or not, Ine. I certainly will not be the first in line, if you gt my meaning. They do most anything nowadays so it's possible, you know. Where is Doctor Frankenstein when you need him? Bob

It is a very interesting experiment. I can totally see the ethical concerns. One question, if the procedure works, is how does this effect life span? That could pose potential future criminal problems on a massive scale.
