It's been stated by historians that Sitting Bull was a very proud and honorable man. I could easily picture him lamenting the future fate of his people as he gazed despondently upon the battlefield below his vantage point. I've no doubt he was very troubled that it had to come to that, all the senseless killing and slaughter.

This is a unique, well written take on the War prompt. Very original and a realistic account, I would imagine.

Best of luck to you in the contest...~Dean

I really enjoyed this one. I have always felt sorry for the Indians, it was their land for centuries, and the 'white' men came along so superior and turfed them out! Good luck in the contest! xsx Sandra

This is a well-written bit of fiction, built around a great story from the old west. All the things in your piece could have happened, there at the Little Big Horn. The military annals don't say it all. Good work.

I am so pleased you enjoyed this short-short. Indeed, the military annals about Custer keep getting changed (especially in the last 5 years) as more and more Indian accounts of the Last Stand are discovered. Thank you for your high praise and the six-star rating.

This is brilliant!! This is what I call top notch writing. the characterisation is perfect, their dialogue believable and understated. This indicates a high level of research done, which is a vital part of any historical writing. Sitting Bull was an extraordinary person, both in his lifetime and ever since. In your piece of writing you have shown him in a true light, that of a seer, a wise man and a leader. Well Done Cheers Cass.

Thank you for sharing my story and your kind praise. I am amazed at all the new literature about Custer's defeat that has come out in just the last 5 years. Much of it has been from primary sources--i.e.--Native American accounts passed on through generations orally.

An excellent written story of history and one that turned out to be true. The Indians won the battle but ultimately lost the war. Your characters were strong and the dialogue was appropriate. I did not find any spag. Great job.
