The writing was interesting. Picking up from previous chapter summary the story flows smoothly into the scene . We learn that some men were watching the home. Possibly the same men on horseback with the pinto. We also learn that Soni is being targeted by/for something. She has met and questioned Garrison's credentials and found out who (Jamison) had recommended him because of his area of expertise. She wants to find out who the men on horseback were and what they want. If she leaves the house, she will be arrested. Yet the end of the chapter she leaves the home to track the men. The main character is very much her own women. She appears to be confident and in charge. I would read another chapter. Good flow and interesting story.

So you are already 249 pages into your novel. Time flies when you're having a good time.
This was a good chapter with the Feds not being able to make any arrests yet, but the reader left with a feeling that it's immanent.

Things are hotting up becoming more mysterious, what is it, or who is it that Kuruk has done something to? There are 8 mysterious men with horses watching the ranch, I wonder who they are?nicely written, the series is well scribed and enthralling, blessings, Roy. Typo:- how goods a tracker's Soni?

Another good chapter, Barbara, with nothing to report. There is always someone wanting to cause trouble when things seem to be going well. But it looks like Soni is staying on top of things, and Jim is going to be right beside her all the way.
