This is a well rhymed story of how a person can become lost in persuit of a dream and lose what is really important in their life while doing so.

A bull chased me across a pasture I should not have been in when I was eight or nine. I ended up being a fan of Eddie Arnold,Garth Brooks, Randy Travis and Chris Ledoux anyway, so here's five.

The one and only Chris Ledoux. What an Entertainer and real life Cowboy on top of it, although he rode bareback horses, not bulls. Appreciate your comments.

Sounds like a good substitute for the real thing-you captured the atmosphere of the rodeo well in your lyrics with a good taste of love, too. Shame the guy took it too far. Excellent rhyming and imagery. Faye

A good Country song is sad, pitiful, and morbid. It just warms the heart. His kicking off was the only way I could really end this song now wasn't it?

True, but I don't like sad endings!

Great lyrics that really paint vivid scenes of the rodeo and the loss of love. What else could you ask for in a country song. I liked how you have include the cities as way to show his rambling ways. Great piece and I could definitely see this topping the charts.

This is gonna be a real country and western hit. Ah can feel it in mah bones. Er - sorry about that, forgot I was an an Englishman for a moment. Sriously though your own love of the rodeo (from a spactator's point of view of course) shines through this lyric. I won't pretend I understand all the technical terms but the whole thing is so realistic you can almost smell the bull shit! Er - no that's not right is it? Great lyric!

This is a story of a man who did not know the worth of a woman he had until she left him.

I connected with this story and, believe that for a lot of men, this is story they will relate to.

I enjoyed the cowboy culture this poem exuded -you don't see something like this too often.

Thanks for sharing.

I just saw the movie The Longest Ride the other night and this reminds me of that. Great poem in great rhyme and meter.

Thanks for your comments, however, this started out about three years ago intending to be Country music lyrics as I am much more a Lyricist than I will ever be a Poet.

Hi, Brett...

Excellent poem, and it's so true. Sometimes it takes the worst to happen to a person to make them realize what's really important in life.

I checked out your website. Pretty cool.
Is there any other music besides the good old down home country music of yesteryear..???

Some of the new age stuff is just that --- stuff.....

Cheers & Blessings

The Academy of Country Music, or what they call Modern day Country Music, were televised last night. Turned them off. To me that is not even Country music. Thanks for your comments and for checking out my website. I really do appreciate you doing that.

I watched it too. Thankfully, I taped it so I could zip through the 90% of bad! Worst award show I've ever watched.

Bring back Loretta Lynn, Conway, Charlie Pride, George and Tammy, as well as the Merl's and Johnny Cash's of the time! (*>*)

Not every woman take Tammy Wynette's song to heart. Not every man survives the eight second ride. This is very well written with good imagery.

You did a good job of letting the yellow stripe show when you wrote this poem many a cowboy has been injured seriously but they continue to ride. Just as a writer must continue to write. Patricia
