This is a lovely writing..short but sweet as the cherry, the first of the season. It tells a lot at the back. Every single fruit is a line by itself. ..rubies. A very well chosen word.

I've always been fond of cherries myself and I loved the imagery you used in your piece. Your words suited the picture well. This surely does show then that the warm weather is definitely on its way! An excellent piece, Sis cat, good luck in the contest...Jacob

Well that's a wonderful was to harvest a poem
The photo of the cherries are making my mouth water.
I can eat them all day. You are doing good not to eat them before you get home. LOL
Take care.

Yes, Cookie, my first taste of the cherries this year was when I rolled the words of this poem around my mouth and sucked on them when I saw the first cherries of the season at the farmer's market yesterday.

Here in Western New York, cherries aren't ready until late June or early July. Those cherries in the picture look delicious. I enjoyed reading this ultra short poetic format. Now I wants some cherries... John

You have to wait until late June? Thank you for your kind review. I think I will have another cherry.

This seems to be a Westernized Haiku. The traditional Japanese Haiku demands that the poet links up with mother nature and the cosmos in a spiritualistic way. Is the eating of those cherries a holistic relationship? Just a thought. -Ekim777

Yes, eating those cherries is a holistic relationship with Mother Nature and the cosmos in a spiritualistic way. We are all made of stardust. Thank you for your review.

Hi, Cat. I don't know where you are but we in Michigan boast some of the greatest cherry crop in the world. Ours aren't ready just yet, but soon. I know what you mean...I can sit and eat an entire bowel by myself. Yum. Good poem here and it may be the winner, my friend. Bob

Thank you, Bob, for your kind review and your recommendation that I post with a $1.00+ payout. This may payoff with this contest entry. The first crop of cherries bounced into a Pinole, California farmer's market yesterday. Thanks.

Your poem Cherries fits the constraints of the 5-7-5 writing prompt contest with satori perfectly. I wish you good luck for the poem in the contest.

Vegetables and fruit are delicious, but there are more cherries rare and hard to find. They offer more excitement and fun. Very well written. Good job.

Thank you, c lucas, for your fine review. The happiest day at the market is when they first appear and the saddest day at the market is when they disappear. I was so excited to see them yesterday at the market that I composed this poem in my head before I ate the first cherry.

Poem well written. Picture added depth to the poem. Descriptive. Makes you want to go to a farmer's market yourself. Write on.

Thank you for your fine review. Yes, go to the farmer's market. You never know what you will find. Perhaps you will find a poem.

How lovely are the fresh cherries, especially when purchased at the farmers markets. The poem makes my mouth water for a handful of ripe rubies. Patricia

Thank you, Patricia, for your fine review. I was shocked when I found the cherries at the farmer's market yesterday and even more shocked when I composed a poem before I even ate one! : )
