Mmmm, cherries. You are making my mouth water! Great imagery, cherries are indeed delicious gemstones. Cherry season is not for a while where I live, so guess I will have to wait a while...

Hi Sis Cat,
Those certainly look like delicious gems. Excellent choice
for your delightful poem. Cherries? Maybe not, but they
look delicious.
Your poem is a perfect 5-7-5 and I like the theme you
chose.
Have a nice Sunday.

Yes, they are cherries. Maybe I should say, they were cherries after I eat mine. Thanks for your review.

What a perfect time to go to the farmers market, not only did you get the fist cherries of the season, they inspired this lovely 5-7-5 poem. I bet they tasted delicious! Good luck in the contest! xsx Sandra

Yes, Sandra, I am so surprised that I composed this 5-7-5 in my head at the first sight of cherries at the farmer's market yesterday. Thanks for your review. Yes, they taste delicious.

Your wonderful poem and lovely photo just evoked some powerful memories within me. I don't know why the memory has been suppressed for such a long time. Maybe it's because I am reading this on a Sunday. As a boy I was addicted to cherries. Some friends and and I used to raid the cherry trees in the yards of neighbors and steal as many as we could fit into our mouths and pockets before being chased away. Now before you criticize me too harshly, I was only 12 or 13 years old and did not know any better. LOL.

Excellent allegory expressed for natural fruits with natural stones of creation. Creation has a great impression the author praises. Not only the fruits, the stones too are the gift of nature and the mighty God should be thanked for that.
Deep poetic content with allegorical beauty.

Yes, I thank God for cherries and this poem. My reaction to my first sight of them at the farmer's market yesterday was instantaneous. I tasted the words of my poem in my mouth before I tasted a cherry. Thank you, benoenose, for your kind, six star review.

This is really the way to do one of these poems...I love the analogy. Even though it's short, it has a flow to it that is truly poetic. Some of these poems in this category just aren't but this is lovely..

Comment from Donovan
I laud you that you got home without eating them. I am forbidden to pick up fast food and bring home as the people always forget to include the french fries...but I digress. My best guess these are Royal Ann Cherries.....I like cherries...it is one of the best parts of an ice cream sundae. Mostly I like seeing who can spit the seed the farthest...I assume you are to cultured to participate in such a proletarian act. And I have mastered putting the stem in my mouth and tying it into a knot. My mother use to can cherries and we would have them in a small bowl with dinner...yummy. By the way...I like your poem, it brought back memories...what more can you ask.

I am so glad, Donovan, that my poem touched you enough to bring back memories from stem tying to canning. Thank you for your review.
