I guess the thought of the treat that awaited you at home inspired the poem. Good inspiration comes from spectacles of everything: good and evil. In this case, it comes from the good of enjoying delicious cherries.
In my own part, potatoes are just hitting the market.
Thank you for sharing.

Thank you, Brabazon, for your fine review. My poem was inspired by seeing the first cherries of the season at the farmer's market. Store-bought cherries are not the same because the stores nearly have them year around. It is when I wait all year for them to appear at the market that I am excited. I composed the poem in my head before I ate the first cherry. I hope you write a poem about potatoes! : )

Hi there,
Very nice 5-7-5.
My review will be longer than the piece. Nice imagery used, the descriptiveness is...ripe
Good luck in the contest.

Good use of metaphor in your first line and the third, likening cherries to precious jewels. Good accompanying picture, well displayed. Correct syllable count in 5/7/5. Good Luck in the contest. Warm regards Dorothy x

Wow! My mouth was watering at the sight of those wonderful cherries. Loved your 5-7-5 about that wonderful stone fruit. In Oz our cherries are in season in summer, in time for Christmas. Well done and best wishes for the contest.

I would definitely have to agree with you there. There is nothing the first fresh cherries of the season. Great lines that really bring out the wonders of springs harvest. The picture is perfect, it makes want rush right for basket full of these little beauties.

I personally love cherries. They come in both red and black colours, black being the sweetest. I enjoyed reading this short and crisp poem.

You have expressed very well your joy you felt while buying the first cherries of the season. Your imagination is excellent in describing them as rubies and gemstones. The picture matching the poem is delicious.

I never thought when I awoke yesterday I would write this poem. When I saw the first cherries at the farmer's market, I composed this poem in my head before I ate the first cherry. Thank you for your review.

For those who cherish the cherry this poem is the gospel's truth. These are the rubies of the fruit world. The possession of a basket of these gemstones is truly a gift of divine proportions. Thanks

Yes! I cannot think of a better metaphor for cherries than rubies. They are edible gemstones. Thank you for your review.

Thank you, Jax, for your sweet review and contest well wishes. : ) To me spring has not arrived until the first cherries appear at the market. Their short season will end by mid summer.

The art work is really special here for these words.
Cherries are delicious to eat beautiful to look at
They are some of the many gifts given to us all from God.
