Mmmn mnnn, aren't they just!

It is lovely how such few words can conjure up such a plethora of warmth and memories. Cherries especially have a fond place in my heart - my mother used to buy them for a treat.

Thank you for sharing your joy!

Yes, cherries bring back fond memories for me, too. My family used to have a scraggly cherry tree in the backyard beneath a huge plum tree. The cherry tree only produced several cherries per season and I would wait until they ripened to eat them. Thanks for your review and memories.

The main reason for my review patti' is that I
connect with the cherry at this juncture simply
because I am hoping it helps with my Gout!
Delicious gemstones that they are it is said
that they help to lessen the effects of Uric
acid which is the fault of Gout.
Your 5-7-5 is re splendid in that it is correct
and reflects one of natures products so
well. Also, I just love them. Eric

Sis Cat: I've never thought of cherries as "rubies" or "delicious gemstones". Nice descriptive choices in this 5/7/5. Good luck in the contest. livelylinda

Thank you, livelylinda. I never thought of cherries as rubies or delicious gemstones until I walked into that farmer's market yesterday and saw the first cherries of the season. I composed this poem in my head before I ate the first cherry. Thank you for your review.

-Great art work and presentation for your poem.
-Your format is good.
-I like your comparison of cherries to rubies in line one.
-The last line very nicely ties in to the first.

Yes, I also love how I tied the poem's first line in with the last. This poem rushed to me at the farmer's market yesterday when I saw the first cherries of the season. Before I ate one, I wrote the poem in my head. Thanks for your review.

Appropriately presented is a small bowl of cherries with a matching red background.

Described as rubies, a much more rare item. But not as valuable as cherries.

Good luck in the competition.

:) Mel.

What a clever 5-7-5 poem.
Thoughtful and spot on word choices.
The image is so enticing-I really enjoy cherries.
Cherries are delightful. Right up there with chocolates and strawberries.
Even here in Australia the first cherries of the season are auctioned for charity and sold for outrageous prices.
:-) Shirley

Wow, the first cherries of the season are auctioned for charity and sold for outrageous prices. I am glad that auction was not here, otherwise I would have nothing but a poem. Thank you, Shirley, for your review.

This follows beautifully the course of a good 5-7-5, namely: thesis, antithesis and synthesis. This could be rewritten here as: impression, fact and marriage of the two, which is effectively what synthesis is, or: look at it this way - gems, looked at another way, fruit then amalgamate the two: gems you can eat. It's brilliant. Good luck in the competition.

Thank you, Pantygynt, for your fine, detailed review. I did not know how I constructed the 5-7-5 but it felt right for me when I saw and bought the first cherries at the farmer's market yesterday. Thank you also for wishing me good luck in the contest.

Your intuition worked then. Have you eaten them all yet?

Not yet, but I am working on them! : )

G'day mate. I haven't seen much of your work lately and I miss it. I never used to like these little pieces but I am rapidly changing my mind when I can see what fun you can have with them. Good luck in the contest. Oh...and cherries are lovely also. Cheers Fez

Thank you, Fez, for your fine review. I never used to like these little poems about cherry blossoms either, but when I saw the first fruit at the farmer's market yesterday, I could not help myself. I composed this poem before I ate one cherry.

This is a gem of a 575 and the poem is very well thought out. I like cherries and you described the excellently as gemstones. Well done indeed and good luck in the contest. Great job.
