I love the innocence of children and the simple honest questions they ask. I like how he can't even wait for the answer to the baby question and he is onto the next question. Very honest answer about being messy and how could you mind, when mom is the bestest cleaner upper in the whole wide world! Nicely written and an enjoyable read.

Comment from Gloria ....
Love it Karyn. Out of the mouths of babes, you have so many great lines in this story. Why don't doggies purr like cats? That's adorable.
You sure did luck out on the baby question. Still, I want to know what your answer is. HA
Very fun read, I enjoyed this a lot.

Nice vehicle for the story where the questions and the answer relating to God, bring a more than cute but satisfying end to the interaction between Mom and kid. I do have one question, "How come you don't do more prose." You're more than a poet. Stan

Thank you for taking the time to read my short story, Stan. I truly appreciate your review and kind comments. I do write quite a bit of prose, and I think more this year than I did last year. I have hundreds of stories floating around in my portfolio. LOL
Thanks for liking this one.

Very cute, IndianaIrish. Yes, some kids are full of questions. This was so sweet, and reminds me of my grandkids. They are so sweet. Nice writing and filled with great imagery. Great job. Drew xx

Only a mother could love him! He'd drive me crazy! LOL. The dialogue in this is perfect - clearly written by a mum used to being kept on her toes! Delightful hand-washing sequence that sure brought back a few memories of my own childhood. It's great to see that you have joined Ray's Blank Verse course. Tony.

You are a story teller par excellence! This is so good. You have captured the wonder of childhood perfectly, and Max's 5 year old English is perfect. I'm also amazed at the patience and wisdom of Max's mummy. She's pretty clued in.
I also liked the way you start with a conversation before launching into the explanatory background bit. I also love it that you make God responsible for the explanation of many of Max's queries. That's as it should be.
Mustache... Probably just the American spelling (taking short cuts...again) but should it be moustache? That's how we English speakers spell it, anyway! ;0
Loved it. Worth ten sixes. You are an entertaining and insightful writer. Got anything more in the unfinished file?
Ant.

I don't think I could ask for a better review for my short story than this, Ant. Thank you so much for your generous rating, but more than the gold star, your encouraging words are so appreciated. I'm pleased you enjoyed the story and your compliments are going to make it difficult to get my head through the doorway. Moustache? Isn't that the whiskers on a mouse? LOL us un-English speakers spell without the o. I can't thank you enough, and yes, I have way too many in that unfinished file. Thank you, A.
Smiles,
Karyn :-)

You're very welcome.
You'll just have to widen your doorway... Wouldn't want to loose your ears. Hair buns look funny without ears.

A delightful read, and endearing ending. Children do ask endless questions. Mom always had an answer. God explained a whole lot of things. Love the change of direction from babies to sneezing.

Hi Irish,
This was a really fun write to read.
I have never had kids so I was never in
this kind of situation.
But, I think it would be fun
to answer every last one of them.
I have that natural desire for
asking lots questions too.

Hi there,
Gotta to say this piece was great. Very believable dialogue, and the relationship was brilliant between the two. I am glad my three and a half year old knows more than me! I don't get lots of questions!
Great write.

Thanks for this great review for my short story, G. I loved your comment about your daughter knowing more than you do. That sure is the truth with kids these days and how smart they are. I appreciate your comments and thanks for saying the dialogue sounded believable. I do enjoy writing in kid speak. Thank you for reading and sharing your kind words.

I enjoyed this heart warming back and forth between a child and parent. The dialogue is refreshing because it's filled with honesty and love. The mother isn't afraid or annoyed at her little MR. Question man and Mr.Question man feels safe and loved enough to ask as many questions as his razor sharp five year old mind can handle.
Wouldn't the world turn out a better place, if all parents interact and spoke to their children this way. I loved reading this. Thank you for dusting this out of your unfinished file and sharing it.
