Thank you for sending the Easter blessings I didn't quite understand the context here, though. Is this part of a novel? A story? I do make ham and scalloped potatoes for Easter, btw. I think it would help to make it more clear to the reader what this piece is meant to be; part of a larger piece, or stand-alone, and is the character a character or is it you?

Really...perhaps in addition to reading the words, you might check the category. It CLEARLY states letters and diary. I you tale it at face value, it is simply an open letter to members. Like so many other open letters to members, it is a simple general statement. In this case, it is also fiction, a way to remind people that there are lonely people here on site and in their lives and a warning to be mindful of different types of members. Sorry you don't get it.

Hi Ingrid,
I read all three of your posts, just to see where my six for you would fit the best... it's so damn hard to choose... 'cause I love your deep touching visuals... your really hitting your straps, and you deserve all the chops you receive for your writing... it would be so easy to keep hitting the six rating--every time.
Sometimes you excite, sometimes you dismay and even amaze... but one thing's for sure, you always entertain.

This little letter hit all the notes for me... but you know I'm a sap for the sentimental content... just glad Millie found fanstory.... that's what a community is... all different colours of diversity to allow our rainbow to reach 'cross the breadth of connection to enhance the expression of shared thoughts... what ever form that content may be.

Beautifully written dear friend.

With our thoughts we create,
connective threads,
James vx's

******Stars!!!!!!

It was meant to be sentimental and a warning to be mindful. Thanks.

Nobody's poetry stinks, anymore than anyone's faith is foolish. I hope you have a
truly pleasant and happy Easter. My writing is a kind of therapy, a taking up of a new study for no reason but the satisfaction of it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Happy Easter, Millie.
This is my favorite holiday of the year because it comes in early spring and symbolizes rebirth. I hope you enjoy yourself and I'm looking forward to hearing more stories about your new gentleman friend. And I relish your reviews. Thanks for becoming a fan. Rod

I think Millie retired from writing after this letter. Thanks.

Yes, I recognize the Millies around us.

This was a delightful read for Good Friday. The persona you took on is accessible. I understand her predicament and drive. I enjoyed the direct, conversational style of your letter. I felt like I just received this wonderful letter from a friend. This is a letter that harks back to the days when people wrote them.

Thank you for sharing your Easter greeting. I wish the same to you.

An excellent letter. I believed all of it and I felt sad, because I do look around and recognise many people as Millie. I was happy when she said she had fans, it was heart warming to think she at least has some friends on FanStory.

Wonderful work - you had me until the end. Happy Easter!

It was not meant to be a surprise reveal, but rather a reminder. I so glad you get it.

God, no, reviewing Goddess. My response was a continuation of my sentiment about reviewing, not the response the genuine, sweet response you sent me. So sorry for any misunderstanding.

It's all good - no misunderstanding here. I hope I didn't imply somewhere that I misunderstood your initial reply?

"There is a gentleman (who) just checked in (who)..."

This is especially sweet, Ingrid, and to tell you the honest truth, I'm not only happily impressed, I'm surprised "the Cynic" penned this wonderfully inspiring letter - don't ask me why, since you always write something terribly moving, but this one just seems quite real (as your intro hints it could be) - Happy Easter, my friend. As usual, you excel. A brilliant idea and cleverly handled.

Changed that--thanks. Eating my own words, which just goes to show you how blind we can be when it comes to our own work.

I have many facets to my personality. When reviewing, I really separate the serious writers from the people who just need to express their feelings--when no one else will listen. This is fiction, but based on an anecdote about an 87 year old man who got panned on this site.

I think we all have many facets to our personalities. Being able to discern (or caring enough to) can make a world of difference, and sometimes, those two 'types' can actually be facets of one individual. I guess the thing is, not one of us is perfect. It's what we want to be remembered for that keeps us from being judgemental, isn't it? By that I don't mean it keeps us from 'reading' people, or understanding, I mean keeps us from peg-holing. (That's a far too easy thing to do, and probably the most common way to cause harm.) What a sad story you tell of that 87-year old man! One of the things I often say is that kindness is seldom seen as anything other than weakness - we credit it for what it is much more in a stranger than we do in those close to us too. Strange lot, we humans...

I agree, life should be all about caring for and about others, especially the old and infirm. I can imagine that someone who writes and is reviewed on fanstory it would cheer them up to know they are appreciated and loved. Well written letter about a hypothetical person who really does exist and could be anybody. Wish you a Happy Easter, too. Faye

Our anybody is on site and those of us who recognize the difference between the serious writer and the one who seeks connection will never disappoint either. Thanks.

Sadly, I can think of so many that this could apply to. How many are alone and have no one to connect with but us, and to be subjected to rude, obnoxious, and offensive comments is beyond my ability to understand. It does seem the poets are the hardest to please. I love poetry but couldn't write one if my life depended on it. Thanks so much for the lovely Happy Easter letter, it's the only one I have received...I guess I fall into the category of alienated, which is why I view my friends at FS as my FRIENDS.

Well, let's put it this way; if you decided to travel, I'll bet you'd get free room and board in dozens of cities.

I will do the review on Dandelion this weekend. Hugs, Happy Easter from Ingrid to Sasha.

Two things I learned today: that you are 80 + and that you have Parkinson's ... well, and one more that sent me scurrying to my names folder to see if I've been calling you by the wrong given name all these months. No, clearly Ingrid!

So, those three things. All the rest I knew: That you are a sweet, giving person and a helluva good writer, no matter what you write. Brilliance has a way of peeking out from every line.

Blessings and have a wonderful Easter, Ingrid/Millie/Ms Echo.

Oh Jay, two thing I learned about you today. One: You don't read categories and therefore missed the fiction allocation.

Two: I think you may qualify as my #1 fan. Damn few believe anything I say, and you bought into every word, hook, line and sinker.

While the character, her infirmities and loneliness are all part of a character profile of many people on FS, Millie is not me.

I was moved by an elderly gentlemen's lament here who got panned by a top writer. I became the old lady waiting for someone to notice me. Thanks for the belief in me and accepting the authenticity of my posted words. They're real--just not mine. I was but a scribe for an unsaid sadness.

Gullible I am! LOL, I must say I am relieved. There was even a hint of sadness I picked up on with the ham vs. turkey and the children who may not call.

Have a marvelous Easter. I think I will take off for a few days. I will be

    Gullible Traveling.

    Bless you, Ingrid!
