What ever vocation that delights you are the open heavens
where you are able to fly like a bird and engage with people
what the amazing flight they will experience as they buckle
in as you attend to their needs as their steward.

I've encountered this person in many professions. They act as if you are insulting them by expecting them to do their jobs. I understand that some people they meet while performing their jobs are unpleasant, but that does not excuse treating me like I am a burden to them by being there.

Sounds like one of the nurses during my recent hospital stay. She had the look, the attitude and all. Aren't they supposed to try and make you feel better there. This is well written, my friend~Debbie

Sorry about that unhappy face. Sometimes we are bogged down with so many pressures that we do not hide our unhappiness well enough. Who knows what that poor hostess had on her mind. Maybe a divorce or perhaps a very ill child. Sometimes a little word from someone might cheer her up

I know, sometimes we all have our bad days. You are right - I should have made the effort to smile and ask about her day. Thanks so much:)

Hey Teresa, Give her a break. Maybe she had a stomach ache. Ha! At least, the plane landed without crashing!! I hope the rest of your journey was enjoyable. Carole

Hi Teresa,
The skies were friendly but not the attendant.
You find this kind of people in many business, it sad but
true. Your free verse poem is well written and descriptive
of the woman's behavior, I would love for the "Friendly skies"
to read it.

Hi, Teresa...

Good job at describing an 'I'd rather be anywhere than here' persona. You can spot them a mile way, can't you? Those type just give you the 'warm and fuzzies.' LOL

Cheers & Blessings
Keep Smilin'.... Jax (*:*)

Dear Teresa - You have indeed described her so well I can see her in my mind. I've had this type of attendant, and even in other customer service jobs. Honestly why can't we appreciate the job, and the duties attached to it. Customer service is got to be one of the greatest ways to offer a smile and change a persons day...or not.
Great poem, well penned and very descriptive.
Thanks for sharing,
Maureen

As you incorporate a little alliteration, I guess this could be classified as free verse rather than prose, Teresa, though with respect, it reads more like a story to me.

Maybe this flight attendant had been wound up/insulted by a passenger, and she usually performs an excellent job, or maybe the writer/passenger had a bad day, and she over-imagined her bad attitude.

I've had many jobs dealing with the public, and however hard I tried to always be pleasant, I admit I had my off-days. :-)

Entertaining and original theme.

Best wishes, Ray xx

I have my bad days too when dealing with the public. Thanks for letting me know that it may be a little too on the prose side:)
