The pathos is only exceeded by the irony that resides in our lives. It flaunts our values and the values expressed in the verses. There is something perverse in this poem that mars the sentimentality resting in those fields of clover. We are left pondering. -Ekim777

An a beautifully written ode to the fallen it is, Nomi. Poignant, passionate and powerful, it clearly depicts the horror, sorrow and immense sadness one experiences when losing a beloved spouse, son or daughter to the horrors of war.
Excellent work! ~Dean

Beautifully written and very poignant. I got the impression this was a poem based on fact, specifically. Now that I know it is a general tribute to all of those who've been touched by the tragedies of war, I find it even more endearing.

Thank you. I felt that not enough mention has ever gone out to the women who have also sacrificed all on the field of battle. Maybe they did not actually engage in combat, but as we know anyplace during a war is subject to come under attack. Nurses and even clerks can be and have been killed during an active war.

Hi nomi338. How well you burrowed into the thoughts of those who have lost loved ones to war. Loved how you arranged this set of words into fine poetry, alf

For those of us that have been there, this is a wonderful peace of the tragedy of being at war. Lives that are destined, for good and not so good by events where we have no say. Keep writing.

A very emotional piece. So hard when a loved one goes off to war and worse when they don't come back. I like the switch up and the woman going to war instead of the man.

This does happen, though not as often. I wanted to salute all the women who serve, especially any that lose their lives as a result of that service. Thank you very much for your kind comments.

Hi Nomi,
What a nice poem this is. I enjoyed every word of it. You are a very good writer and your work is always interesting to read. I'm glad this story in poetry form isn't true although I'm sure many such stories are.

Thank you. The very reason I conceived and wrote this was on behalf of all of those of us who have had their dreams for the future destroyed by t he harsh realities of war.

Your poem was well written and a nice read, although sad at the same time.

American women have been killed in war times since the Civil war. Your poem shows the emotional turmoil of losing a loved one in war. This is well written.

Thank you Charlie. We often hear about women who have lost a loved one to war, but almost never do we hear about men who have lost. I appreciate your support and fine comments.

What a wonderful and moving poem. I love your imagery of field of clover and how you included it in the end. Your rhymes are smooth and your lines are simple, but your message of love, loss, and grief are your poem's strongest asset. Thank you for sharing.
