Epically sad for someone...it reminds me of the China Beach album where a father said goodbye to his daughter who went to war..its a modern era
Well penned
God bless

Thank you so much. I felt it was about time that the women had a chance to get some of the sympathy, love and respect. LOL.

Hello poet friend.
Although a work of fiction, I am sure many people could identify. It was touchingly sad and lovingly passionate. The ending was great! Loyd

I enjoyed this very much. Thank you for the notes because I thought it was from personal experience, I am glad it is not. It had never occurred to me to write about things like that - I may try it sometime. The passion is real. Thanks for writing and sharing.

Fiction is based on reality and this one is so true to life. Wasted lives. Looking back and seeing that things have worsened I wonder what did we fight for? Nice flow and rhyming throughout. Well crafted. Les

nomi338: a nice dedication to all those who have lost their lives at war; each with their own personal story but the feelings for those who survived, all the same. Nice work! livelylinda

Good job expressing the horrors of war and the after effects on those left behind. I see nothing to change. Thanks for sharing a heart-felt poem. I believe there are many who can identify with the sentiments of this poem (unfortunately).

Interesting perspective, the man left behind when his woman was called to fight. But really, it does not to be gender specific as it probably speaks of the tragic experience of many. Good poem.

Hi nommi - an unusual poem about war where the female, not the male, go off to war. She is a casualty of the war and the male is left to grieve. A switch in this poem as it is usually the man who goes off to fight and the woman is left behind. Good write in abcb rhyme form. Warm regards Dorothyx

it is so heartbreaking for a family to lose a loved one, or a love to lose the one they loved in a war. I agree we need to remember those who have lost loved ones in the wars. Blessings, Patricia

My biggest wish is that no one ever again has to go off to war. The second greatest commandment from God was that we love each of our neighbors as ourselves. If we but did that there would be no wars. Of course since the days of Adam and Eve that has not been the case. Thank you for your kind review comments.

I found this poem very touching. I like the way you framed the piece with the fields of clover as the setting for the beginning and the end of their life together. It is an extremely sad story, which would also lend itself to a longer piece of fiction. best wishes Fiona
