Good poem with a good picture to match. A sad but very real message about those who have loved, and lost loved ones in war. I enjoyed the words and message of this work.

Hi Nom,
I'm glad I read your notes and this is fiction.
The casualties of war make so sad, just what you write
in your poem. I specially like this stanza...

War called and I could not serve
So you chose to join the fight
I wrote you passionate letters
Each and every night.

I'm sure he would've done this from camp if
he was the one to go to war.

Beautifully written poem my friend.

Hello Bryana. I thank you so much for your warm comments. I am glad that you found something in the poem that you liked, some people are depressed by talk of war and dying.

This is so sad. We had a young man who was killed about a year ago. The funeral was huge and he had a young wife. It was just so sad. I'm glad this isn't about you and it's a wonderful reminder to pray for all those fighting for our safety. Some of them will never come back because of us. Great, great job

Thank you so much for your kind remarks. It is always a sad day to observes the death of some of our finest young people. To think that while some are being disrespectful, drinking and doing drugs, fighting and using bad language. Some other of our young are putting their young lives at risk for our benefit. I pray for all of our youth, but most especially for these.

This speaks eloquently of the pain that can be brought to so many by war. So many people have lost loved ones both physically and in spirit. Many come back as different people than the ones who left.

Your poem of fiction is a reality for many. such a pity that we need to fight wars to settle matters. In the end there is never any victory we all have lost.

Hello my friend Nomi, Your poetic piece is enhanced with a lovely sea of four leaf clovers. How very sad for you that the bouquet of clovers was not good luck for your love. I have a couple of young friends, who are married. They are in the Air Force. They each go on their different deployments leaving each other and children behind. This must be a very tough life style for a couple. I'm afraid I wouldn't be very good at it. I'm sorry for your loss so long ago. Carole

Hello Carole. Happily the tragedy in this story is not mine. It is a fabrication done in tribute to the very real sacrifice of the many who have actually lost loved ones to war. I very much appreciate your kind sentiments and expressions of sympathy.

I like the imagery, tone, and flow. I love the message and the photo. The death of a loved one is always sad and traumatic whether male or female. I feel the pain through the words you chose to use to express your message. I wish these wars would stop, I think practicing more love would bring better results.

That makes two of us. The fact that we have had two world wars and numerous military interventions across the globe with nothing having been settled should serve to make us consider another way, some alternative method for settling our differences. Yeah I know, good luck with that idea.

The notes are quite necessary to comprehend the content. The Quatrains are
smooth enough. I just don't understand why anyone would join, now that there
is no notice ever coming in the mail that begins, "Greetings, you have been
selected--"

Now days all it takes is a feeling of wanting to do ones part to protect American interests that spur us into joining the military.

I can imagine how often such scenarios are played out when such tragedies occur for the sake of war. You have captured the sadness of the loved one left behind well. Excellent rhyming and message. Faye
