uh oh... tenuous circumstances... why does it always have to be all or nothing with some kids? lol

ok, i"m locked in again... (which isn't good for me, because i'm getting 2 cents apiece on a sunday night. LOL which isn't the way FS works at all) lol and I just posted a poem... ok, gonna read another half dozen because its FUN! :)

I did find a type here:
I thrilled to hear genuine excitement and yes, hope, in Nichole's voice (believe you'll want to insert the word "was" between I and thrilled) maybe?

:)

moving on..... :)

Wow! I'm flattered that you are taking the time to read for two cents. I like reading some, but wish we could just write one line for a review. Sigh...

Oh, the continual ups and downs of the mother-daughter relationship. The joy of her success and the excitement you shared comes through clearly. The worry and concern as well. You always have to put that hook out there for the next chapter don't you? Well done.

I learned that trick by reading novels. I have to stop in the middle of a chapter or I'll stay up until I finish it! The endings keep me going.

Hi Shari.
You showed so well the patching of the relationship between you and Nichole. Being a parent is never easy, and all we want for our kids is the best. Sometimes, it's so hard to not say too much as we watch them stray down a pathway that's different from what we'd hope. I could hear your excitement and sense of relief when you saw Nichole without Jeff. You ended the chapter well, with a hint of mystery.
Bye, my friend!
Rosalyne :)

Hi there,

Slow to get to this one.

Well this is an interesting turn of events. It sounds like Nichole has landed a great job.

An enjoyable chapter.

Best wishes, Alison

Thanks, Alison. You would think. But personally, after two weeks on a ship, I'm ready to go home.

When everything is working, the sun feels likes its going to shine on your situation forever, a drop of rain comes and spoils it, as your last sentence indicated.

The absence of Jeff is a big question mark. Glad you didn't dwell on it and left that to the reader.

Hi Shari ...

I'm liking this more and as I read on. That opening line is classic ... totally loved it!

So, things start getting better and better with Nichole, then she asks the dreaded question when you meet. Doesn't it seem that life does that to us a lot? We get warm air beneath our wings, then a cold breeze rushes in to put a chill on everything. Sucks!

You didn't expound on "no Jeff' when you and Frank met Nichole. Looking forward to read more about that. Great teaser line at the end ... one of my favorite characteristics in a writer.

Super job! See ya next chapter ...

Alan

Great analogy, Alan, about the warm air and wings.
    Thanks for following this.

Dear Shari - ah the joys of families and all that rains on them. This reads smooth, loved the upbeat portions that seem to stabilize the rocking boat of life...till the cruise line at the end....oh-oh!
Well penned -thanks for sharing,
Maureen

I've never been on a cruise, but from what I hear, they are not cheap. I am pleased your relationship with your daughter in on the upswing. It is so hard when mother and daughter don't get along...something I am far too familiar with.

It was even more painful since Nichole and I were so close until she met Jeff. I'm beginning to see a more mature attitude though each week that I call her in L.A. She's now 46. I haven't seen for six years.

Great chapter describing the change in Nichole, the exciting life changes, and your relationship changes. But then that ending ... Can't wait to read more, Shari.

Karyn :-)

Hi Shari,

That's wonderful she got a gig on a cruise line. I remember you and Frank took a lot of cruises, so maybe this is how it started.

This is a great chapter, fast paced and interesting to read.

Hugs,
Lou

Thanks, Lou. Don't count on a happy ending though. Sigh...

There is seldom a happy ending for anyone pursuing the arts. Too much competition and not enough breaks.
