Really good entry! I felt the same way at your age. I was 62 when I went hiking and camping in the Rocky Mts of Wyoming and Montana. But then I got a serious lung disease that slowed me to a stop over five years. I can't even walk to the mailbox now without putting on an oxygen tank backpack. Old age is fine... until something in your body breaks down. And it always happens, unless you're one of the lucky ones who gets hit by a bus or stray bullet.

Thanks for your review and your personal comments, Phyllis. Lung disease or any disease for that matter that debilitates would be frustrating for sure. That's why I try to make the most of each day because everything can change in the blink of an eye.
I am glad you found FanStory. You are definitely a gifted story teller! 8-)

I doubt you are anything close to Maxine:) aging isn't so bad except the aches and pains. Like you said look at Betty White. I love her. Great commentary.

Your essay on ageing is an inspiring and amusing one. I liked your tips to keep aging at bay - positivity and humour. I read somewhere: 'Age is a matter over mind. If you do not mind, it does not matter.' Let aging not embarrass us but let us embrace it.

For a youngster like you, you have remarkable insights into the many advantages which lie in your future. As a 76-year-old, I can confirm that all your predictions are correct. Being old, and I mean properly old, is great. :<)

Ha! I haven't been called a youngster in, well, decades, but I do get your drift. I guess I am still in the early stages but my mom is my inspiration. She is 88 years young and so positive. Her motto is I am not going to sit here and rust. Thanks so much for your review and for your confirmation that my assumptions are on the right track...It means a lot coming from a "properly old" person. Hugs - Karen 8-)

Very good attitude about aging. Today, they are always saying stuff like 50 is the new 30, etc. Heck, at Walgreens I still get carded for smokes....which does not mean much because they are supposed to card anyone who appears under 40. But still....good luck in the contest!

Thanks so much for your review. Yes, I think aging trends are changing. I am always happy if I get carded anywhere...but just because I care, I must say...Stay off them smokes! Hugs - Karen 8-)

Thanks, I needed that! I am that magical 55 now, and am just beginning to discover the savings, so thanks for the tip on that. Personally, I think you are pretty, so your mother is right,
I have found I am a lot more outspoken now, too. It's funny how that works, and then you stop and think, why haven't I been like this all along??? What these young girls need to do is adopt the "Maxine" attitude now and cut to the chase.
Thanks for the uplifting viewpoint!
Rhonda

I so enjoyed reading this - it is very well written, entertaining and inspiring. I love that you are active and positive and willing to enjoy life to the fullest.

I am only 42 and my aim is to maintain a happy and positive outlook on life, with the goal of leading an active lifestyle with each and every year I get.

An excellent piece - thanks for the great read.

Thank you, Louise. I am so happy that as a younger person, you could be inspired by this post. And I am especially happy that you are already starting to embrace life to the fullest now because the earlier you start the easier it will be to maintain. You are on the right track!! 8-)

Hey Boxergirl, I think I love you. I will be 72 on April 2, 2015. I refuse to grow up. My family tells me all the time that I am ridiculously silly and childish. I smile and reply, "So what?" Growing up I was Mr. serious, super cool guy. No more, I now flirt with women, my wife included, I tell jokes all the time I laugh out loud at every opportunity. I just do not care. Since I don't know how long I have I am not leaving anything on the table or the floor. I am trying to have all the fun I can. I applaud you Boxergirl, you go girl!.

Yea for you as well! I love the positivity in your post and I love seeing people embrace life. Some older people complain about no one coming to see them . Well, Nobody wants to be around anyone who grows sour about life and complains all the time. Keep it up, my friend, and everyone will be wondering what you will get in to next! 8-)

I love your post, Karen. At 75 I say the same thing, "75 years young," but I sometimes have to stop in the middle of the sentence to run to the bathroom. Yuk-yuk ...

Thanks for this reminder, Karen.

Ha! Jay, you are so funny and yet, so right about the bathroom issues. Glad you liked it and I am happy that you share my same sentiments about embracing our lives no matter what age we are! Keep on keeping on!! 8-)

Hey, I'm with you. I aged gracefully until I was 75. Now my wrinkles are beginning to show. But I still tell my age. 77. I am proud to have reached the age I am and hope to have a few more!! I love Maxine. I had her picture that said "Yes, I'm 70. You want to make something of it?" and I wore it! thanks for sharing. Miss Sally :>D

Hey, thanks so much Sally for your review. I love the positivity in your review and I am glad that you aren't letting the wrinkles keep you from enjoying each and every day. Maxine would say, "Don't sweat 'em!" 8-)
