What an effort! Sorry for delay. Been out of town. I read this during a layover in Dallas.
This to me is two stories. The first is the psychological onslaught and the second is the alien dynamic. I think this should have been longer, not shorter. I so enjoyed reading it. You covered all the bases and this is executed so well.
Love your work, girl. Very well done. Lynda

Thanks so much for the stars and sharing your lay-over. Spent a fair bit of time in Dallas.
Still considering an extension. maybe picking up the story of the other volunteer astronauts.

Yes, that would be awesome! Do it!!!

Ingrid, this is a great four part story...you should submit this to several magazines...the story read like a love story that could be plausible...even though, I know it could not be, you wrote with 'Martian' voice and made me believe. Great job.

I'm still pondering whether to turn this into a book. Picking up threads of other astronauts lives in multiple chapters then bringing them all together at the end. Thanks so much for the stars,

Great idea, and very challenging, but you could do it.

I am glad you posted this as one story. I liked reading it all at the same time. Again, I am so impressed with how you put this together. I will have to do some research on this project. Wonderful work with this, superbly written with a perfect ending.

I'm still waiting to get shit for this 5th post, but /I had people read different segments and ask questions that were answered had readers read the story is sequence. Thanks for the stars for this and the conclusion.

Wonderful! I do not usually choose this genre to read but this was such a pleasant surprise. It was great that you put all of these together, so I could get, TOTAL IMPACT (couldn't resist.) Tho' this certainly fits the genre it has a "human factor," which I compliment you on. I find much in this genre that I can usually not relate to, but this was great! Interesting as well, that this project is underway! What could be better than an "out of this world" romance story! I truly enjoyed! Blessings! Ooooh! SO glad she was pregnant! :) ~ Pat :)

You know, shocking as this may sound, I rarely write romance, and even when I do, it is never central to the story. Hardly ever do I move into sci-fi or fantasy, but the true life Mars One Mission totally fascinated me, that 24 people were willingly signing up for a guaranteed death on Mars. I tried to imagine the hundreds of family and friends who would be impacted by this decision and it still baffles me. The story evolved as I was thinking about goodbyes.
Thank you for your very generous feedback.

I am so glad that you included the entire story. I read the last chapter and fell in love with it at that time. Now with the whole story in place, it all makes sense. What a wonderful bittersweet story of exploration. At heat, all human beings (and perhaps a few Martians) love adventure.

People kept picking up parts of the story and asked questions that were answered in other parts. It is over 8K words and by FS standards, few people 'suffer' through such long reads, but putting it all together helped those that enjoyed the story. Thanks for being one of those members.

I truly am, and that's one of the limitations of this site. I write incredibly long books, usually over 100,000 words so I feel this site offers me practice at becoming more succinct, but it is hard to write longer passages because people don't want to read it. Keep it up, though, I will read.

Hi Echo,
I think this is a very good write.
It held my interest all the way through.
I am not into romance stories either.
I think it was an interesting well thought out write. A very good story line. Good smooth dialogue and word flow. I am glad you posted all 4 parts together. For me, it made it easier to read all the way through. I think maybe you should consider developing the story further.

So I'm told. In that there are 24 people--for real--going to Mars in yen tears, there's a real possibility to tell their story. Thanks for your interest and support. Bless you for the stars!

Hi Echo
Personally that is not a place I want to go. It is an empty place. There is nothing there but dirt and rocks. I guess it would be a good place if you wanted to cook yourself in the sun for a Mar's sun tan. But I think it is kinda far just to go see a pile of rocks and a beach without water. One good thing though, the beach there wouldn't be crowded. Hopefully, there isn't some kind of surprise being with very large teeth that thinks humans would make a tasty snack.
Best Regards,
K River

Technically, you have written a novelette. Roswell will always be part of our history and impregnate wordsmith's minds. I applaud your masterful work. Very good job of writing.

Thank you. The reality of the Mars One Mission fascinated me and this came barrelling out of my consciousness as a result.

Hi Ingrid,
Yeah, love a happy ending for sure... I would love to say you took me to the moon and back, but in fact you have taken me much further... my eyes are set for Mars.
Truly loved the way you weaved your magic to tie-up all the loose ends... the letter from Mark had me watching a scene, both of future and memory in the same breath.
Loved this story, it was one that I wished didn't have an ending... or maybe it hasn't? Maybe I'll know the true ending in ten years or so?
Thank you for your well written story and the beautiful mind that created it, always a pleasure to be entertained by you in such a magic way... I saved this six for the entirety of a story that was written the way it flowed... seamlessly.

Thanks very much for the six. It's a wild concept that so many people are willing to give up their families and lives on Earth with a guaranteed death on Mars. I suppose in ten years the whole thing could be scrubbed, but this is what came out of my rambling thoughts. Love the stars.

I applaud you giving readers the option to read your story in one sitting. The sections flow well together with a natural progression of story. It is also a good strategy to split a long story apart and serialize this. You should publish this exceptional example of science fiction. Thank you for daring.

Daring is the right word as both sci-fi and romance are generally two genres I avoid. Thanks for hanging in. Wow, over 8,000 words!

This is a great achievement. 8,000 words. : )

merits more. The potential has only just been tapped in my opinion. That it ties into an actual upcoming event makes it all the more exciting and lends credibility to the plot.
Don't shelve this one.
