Aren't you something. I delete anything after three days or I'd never catch up or find time to write. Glad you're enjoying it.

I am enjoying it... I like to hang on as long as I can to the ones I truly wish to read... And I especially like to hold onto the really good ones... it makes those two pennies extra special. :)

Hi there,
Just want you to know I am reading all the chapters to get caught up. I love this story of your mother and her sister, and your family. I thought when Nicole and Jeff moved to Florida the time she got to spend with you would be a good reason to stay. But he seemed like a 'piece of work.' I got a kick out of you thinking the pug made him almost look good.
That's terrible about your Aunt's son Bobby. (Did your sister Barb name her Bobby after him?) And I feel a bit suspicious about Beverly too, especially with such a large life insurance policy. ( She could give his mother (your Aunt) several hundred thousand and never miss it.) That would be the respectful and honorable thing to do.
Well done, I enjoy this,
:-) Carolyn

My sister's son was named after our father. Ironically, Dee's son was also named his father-- another Bob. As for Beverly not leaving my aunt anything, I suspect Dee had been mean to her at times. She was good at making enemies of relatives. Her next victim will be my half-sister.

So you never know if the family suspicions are true about Bobby's death me so everyone will continue to believe they have come to the correct conclusion. Any way you slice it, Bev is not s popular person, but she has all she needs it seems.
Sounds like Aunt Dee will always find someone to look out for her.

You make your family sound so interesting. Great storytelling.

Hi, Shari.
This is so sad, and must be hard on the family, not having that closure, only doubt. Losing a child is the most devastating pain any parent can go through in life. Compounding it with doubts and questions of murder must have been nearly impossible to cope with. Only Bev will know the truth, if her actions were responsible in the end. She must live with this fact for the rest of her life. What your mom did was so kind, offering help and support both emotionally and financially.
"I don't always like my sister, but I love her just like I do you and Barbara. We're family no matter how far the distance." This says so much about your mom and her giving nature.
Bye, my friend!

Thanks, Rosalyne, for the insightful review. My mother was beautiful inside and out. Even though we had some rough moments, our souls meshed together.

Last night, I finished watching the season finale of a night time soap opera, but your family life makes what I saw on TV hum-dum!

As for Bobby's death, I believe it was a combination of poor health, taking to many pills or a wrong combination of them. Both women aren't they kind you want to invite to a dinner party, yet their battle has pained the entire family. . I came away from reading this exhausted and wanting to more about your daughter.

There's a time later on when I felt I was on the Jerry Springer show! I hate to believe Bobby's wife meant to kill him and prefer to consider good intentions gone awry. More about my daughter in the next episode. Thanks for a great review.

Hi Shari ...

I'm trying to get back in the swing of things ... reading, reviewing and writing. Things are still pretty uneasy at our household. Di is having a really tough time accepting Jeff's death. he was her natural son, my step-son, so I know it has to hurt her deeper than it has me. Plus, a mother's love is different than any other love.

This is quite a tangle of emotions between, your mom, Dee, you and Beverly. I'm curious to see how things go between Dee and Beverly as the story progresses. You keep it interesting and constantly moving ... makes for a real nice read.

Wishing you well, my friend.

Thank you for the lovely review. My sympathies for both of you, but especially Di. I don't know how people survive the loss of a son or daughter. I'd be in bed for months, sedated. Or else eat so much chocolate that my stomach ache would overwhelm my sorrow.

Shari ... You are welcome. Between the two of us, we have buried three children ... both of her sons and my oldest step-son from a previous marriage. You simply have to find a way to go on. every day is a new challenge and you wonder how you are going to make it through the day. Somehow you find the strength. Each day is different. The grieving process is so damned complicated. you have many moments of tears and uncontrollable crying, moments of laughter with certain reflections, many periods of anger, you question your faith, you hate the loneliness of that vacant spot in your life. Yet, you somehow persevere. You wonder every morning if you will make it through the day. Yet, you somehow find a way and you're not sure how you did it. But you did. Time helps but it doesn't heal. it simply finds a spot for you to deal with the loss rationally and continue on with your life. It's difficult, to be sure. but we are strong people and will get on with our lives in time. For now, though, we just play each day by ear.

Wishing you well, my friend. Hugs to you & yours ...

Such a wonderful and insightful response. I'm going to copy and paste it with your permission. I think I could take some thoughts and make the idea into a poem.
    Love,

How awful to go through the rest of your life believing your son was murdered by his wife, and no way to get proof. I think it was awful she didn't notify his Mom for so long. Good chapter, Shari. There were several times you spelled his name Bobbie instead of Bobby as you had all along. Great ending.
Smiles,
Karyn :-)

Thanks, my dependable proof-reader. I found three.
I'd be spitting nails if my daughter-in-law called me three days after the fact and then to have a service without my knowledge! Hard to forgive something like that.

I could feel Dee's frustration at being left out of her son's memorial service. Who does that? Says a lot about Bev, even if she didnt murder Bobby.

It certainly was a callous act. I'm sure Dee would have like to have murdered Bev!

"Aunt Dee wore bitterness like a second skin." A great, concise description. Amazing possibility of murder taken in a kind of matter-of-fact way...who has a funeral and tells the other family members later? Crazy...

No funeral, just a memorial service. It was a terrible thing to do!

Hmmm....does sound suspicious. Sure, Bobby had a heart attack, but what caused it? No chance for autopsy sounds suspicious. Damn murderess! You have some nasty folks in your family. BUt I'm glad to hear Jeff is out of the picture. :)

Don't hold your breath about Jeff just yet.
I had to agree that Bobby's death was hastened by following his wife's advice.
