Living in the south as I do, Mikey I can tell you there is still work to be done, but the majority of the time the "N" word is used within the black community nowadays.
I looked til I found something to give you another accolade in your profile..TADA.

Always your fan,

Great rhyming with colored and dullard...wow! Superb limerick! That word is still used in the south in white areas. It's rude, for sure, but not as serious as the PC Police make it out to be. I was called a hunky when I was a kid bec we were of Eastern European background in a place populated by English and Irish. Then the Polish gang moved in, and they forgot about me because they had the pollacks to pick on. You don't have to take offense at what people say UNLESS YOU CHOOSE TO. And this new victim mentality is making things worse than they ever were.

I cringe at the word too, never us it and forbade my children to as I raised them. I understand your use of it in this poem. I think the disrespect we see to our president and his wife shows we've made little progress. Evil has a way of changing masks and disguises.

Very political, very well done and apologies accepted. Your limerick filled the bill and entertained as well as provoked thought. Good job.

I love limericks, this was very well done, especially with the political content, makes it even more powerful. I have written a couple of limericks, not political ones, more in the vein of Edward Lear who wrote my favourite nonsense rhyme of all time, 'the Owl and the Pussycat'. Good satirical message, excellent rhyming and good luck in the contest.
I have pasted one of Lear's Limericks below.

There was an Old Man who supposed
That the street door was partially closed;
But some very large rats
Ate his coats and his hats,
While that futile Old Gentleman dozed.

I hope you're wrong as well, Mikey. This is a great and thought provoking limerick especially in the last line regarding race relations. I hope you do well in the contest and best wishes, Pete

Good limerick, Michael. You present much food for thought.

Author notes ... one wonders. Maybe not backwards or forwards. Maybe America never moved from the status quo ..?

I think this is a worthy contender. Best wishes for the contest.

We are moving sideways (to the right) and back. I am glad that you are being accused of being a grand wizard and don't run the risk of having a cross burned on your lawn. Sometimes satire works and this is a grand example. Good luck in the contest!

I love the picture. I love the poem. There is still a lot of bigotry on both sides of the fence, Black and white. We are getting better with color, but now we seem to have religious bigotry. Great work.

great pairing of photo of that glorious day and your poem of social commentary
strong rhymes in the rhyming pattern of a traditional limerick
with rhyming word choices that add to the satiric humor
compelling social/political commentary with good satiric tone I expect in this form
