I enjoyed your pantoum about being lost in dreams of times past and a different age. The golden age of Hollywood and a time when a much different and younger self danced the night away.

The body may be crippled, but the mind is free to fly. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very interesting read.

LOL. Well that one definitely took the breath from me. This poetry style would make me nuts so I've only wholeheartedly attempted it. Well done and best of luck in the contest.

This is such a wonderful use of the pantoum form! I was immediately swept up in the dance you imagined. The way memory overrides the inconvenience of fact. Though never stated, I imagined the music to be strongly connected to your past waltzing days. Perhaps a special partner, a special occasion. Perhaps just music that spoke to you.

Beautifully written :-)

Thank you so much for the read and review. Actually, I watched the majority of the dancing from the bandstand, but the songs of that long ago era are my passion. - Wendy

rosehill--
Terrific. I even know how sublimely Fred Astaire danced, which should at least partially date me. My dad loved him somewhat the way you do here. You evoke him, the dance, the grace of it beautifully from your chair. The Pantoum in my favorite of the forms used here in this contests. Repeats like music. Have no sixes.

Thanks
Wabigoon

Thank you Wabigoon for the read and the thoughtful review. I was seldom on the dance floor, being the "girl" singer in a big band several years ago, but loved watching the graceful couples as they flowed together in the ballrooms. - Wendy

This is a perfect presentation of a pantoum. I loved everything about it. The picture fits so perfect. The rhyme is great. The reader does not realize that lines are repeated since they fit in so perfectly. I would change nothing. Good job, good luck in the contest, and thanks for sharing a beautiful poem.

so moving! this reminds me of my mother, in her last, difficult days.
She sat in her chair in the hallway, waiting for visitors, real and not.
Difficult times, but ending peacefully.
Thank you for the image.

Thank you so much for the read and review. My father also sat in one of those chairs, and spoke to his visitors on a regular basis. I am sure that they were happy reunions as he always had a smile when they arrived. It is hard to watch, but the peaceful ending is something to be glad of. I am glad that my poem was able to touch you. - Wendy

I have never tried the pantomime, but am fascinated by those who execute the form well. You certainly do that here with this piece.

So many themes dance through here--the frailties of age, the loss of youth, the power of music, the comfort of memory--in spite of the built-in restriction on new lines. I really like this poem.

Elegant and eloquent. This is a lovely throwback to a simpler, beautiful time. The rhyming you used aptly holds the work together and allows for easy flow and reading. I adore the artwork. It adds much to the poem.

Good luck in the contest
Nancy

Thank you for taking a peek at my Pantoum. A stubborn form, to say the least, so I'm glad you enjoyed the end result. - Wendy

I wish word processors didn't freak out at the sight of an accent mark. I don't remember exact pantoum rules, but this looks very pantoumish, with rhymes and a lucid story line.

Thanks for taking the time to peek at my piece. I wish that this site's posting page didn't freak at accents too. It took me several tries to get it corrected so I didn't look like it was trying to approximate a swear word. - Wendy
