Brett, I can see these lyrics being one of the best selling country songs. You used great and seemingly heart felt words. I enjoyed reading and reviewing this. Blessings, Teri

These are very good song lyrics. In reading through them, however, the reader stumbles and has to re-read a line when the right punctuation is missing. For example:

I don't know why I go there(;) it ain't the place I want to be.

There may be no such thing as angels(,) but I got one here with me.

I run right to the bottle(--)the only place I'm ever free.

She is more than just my lover(,) she is still my best friend.

No matter what life does to me(,) I can make it to the end.

I especially like this line:
She's the rock that I still lean on. The gold inside our wedding rings.
Still, it isn't presented correctly:
She's the rock that I still lean on--the gold inside our wedding rings.

(The gold inside our wedding rings isn't a complete sentence.)

These punctuation issues are all easy to correct. I truly I think you have written some excellent lyrics.

Happy TGIF to you Brett. I really enjoyed your song lyrics, anyone who can put up with alcoholism is truly an angel. Your words were heartfelt, sad, and touching all at the same time. Good job!

Wonderful, and how important it is to find and to have the one person who really stands by you, when you know deep down that you may not deserve it, and is possibly abusing that faith all the time. Very well written. I enjoyed it. Ulla

This could be my testimony, I was an alcoholic until God called and delivered from several nasty habits, particularly alcoholic, my wife stuck by me all through those terrible years, until that day, both my daughters are God's hand maidens, my wife is the epitome of faithfulness, beautifully written, in open and articulate, smooth glow, and couplet rhyming, well done, blessings, Roy.

Beautifully written, with great lyrics, rhythm and rhyme. It shows the crazy strength of addiction, even when the addict has every reason to quit. Great imagery, i.e. "The gold inside our wedding rings." It is full of emotion that really grabbed my heart. I would love to hear it sung.

You're right to be proud of these lyrics.....they have a classic feel about them, as well as a standard country theme, and a couple of iconic references...'peace in the valley', for example. I've had a good look, but can't find any constructive criticism worth mentioning. Thanks for the song.

Great lyrics. I particularly like 'the gold inside our wedding rings' as a description. You have depicted the tragic strength of addiction in this. Although we know it is a crazy course, we are still compelled towards it.

I have been down this road with my ex husband. Every alcoholic needs a crutch to hang on to. "He ain't heavy, he's my brother." The demon drink is an anaesthetic for the drinker, all the pain and strain falls away, at a terrible price. Very well written my friend.
