I thought the rhyming was perfect as was the message. You have spoken for so many of us aspiring writers. I'm so glad this won the contest. Congratulations, this was such a well-deserved win!

You sound just like me, never happier than when I have found something novel or fascinating to write about, and it just comes. This morning I lay in bed and the sun was streaming through my window. That had to be my inspiration, so I grabbed my pen. Excellent rhyming and good use of alliterative and descriptive language. Words are just so wonderful the way they can be woven into a poem or piece of prose, how lucky we are to have such a beautiful language. Good luck in the contest. Faye

Hi Mike,
love your passion for your art... when words can spark an emotion and allow travel through imagination... then for me everything is running its course to what is... and what should be... so, for me, what makes you happy, has also made me happy, not only for me but for you also!

All the very best with this prompt as well brother... you do pump them out!

With our thoughts we create,
the need,
James.

There are a lot of things to think about in this poem. It moves fast and yellow against black is so hard on the eyes. You nailed the rhyme style. I'm going to move across the room and applaud your love for writing. Good work.

Good one, Mikey. Perfect topic bec we can relate and that's always a good entry where other writers will be voting. Too bad, and HARD TO BELIEVE, that only two people entered! I would think the topic would pull in everyone! I read both, reviewed yours, and then voted for you. Now you are two votes ahead. Good luck. :)

This is a good write about what makes you happy, Mikey. An excellent poem, well written, and makes for a good read. Meter and rhymes were good. I love to write, too. :>D Miss Sally

Mike, when I read the prompt for this contest, I was sure someone would say writing always makes me happy. If my day had not been so busy, I would have done so myself. Liked how you use alliteration, and enjambment in you poem of happiness.

Clever use of your meter here. When you have 11 beats, you repeat in the correct line and paragraph.

...catch a line that's feminine in style....

You are so busted, dude. But it works for you and makes me giggle.

This is a terrific poem about the joy that we all get from writing (at least eventually, after the pain of writing). I'm particularly fond of the first line about alliteration celebration! Good luck! Caroline
