Hi Brett - a lovely lyric poem and it would be great to hear it sung. A good story about growing up, in this case from the little boy who stole the glove to the mature person who fought in Vietnam. Then on to a marriage, that is destined to fail and the product of that marriage, another little boy, ready to face the world. Very effective the repeat of that line 'There's a whole lotta man in that little boy', which is typical of a lyric poem. A good read. Warm regards Dorothyx

Wow seems all I can say.
This is so professionally and emotionally done that it plays hard and deserves a second and third read.
Flow and meter are spot on. Excellent work on the rhyming

I loved it. Excellent rhyme and flow. Grabs you with emotions and wonderful imagery, and you hang on to the end. I love how you tie together different incidents in your life with "There's a whole lotta man in that little boy".

Very well written. I would love to hear you sing it. This is the first of your poems I have read; will look for more.

I can almost hear someone singing this beautiful poem. How about Alan Jackson. It creates great mental images and has a smooth flow. Thank you for sharing.

What great lyrics. So, you're a song writer. There should be a star search for new song writers called, "So You Want To Write A Song?" Great job, my friend.

Great story, could be a great song. I think your words bring out emotion and created an image in the readers mind that exceeds the words. Best of fortune to you.

Wow, a powerflul and emotional poem. Very well written. Use of anaphora is very effective. This truly deserves a six star rating, but alas, I have none to give. Have a blessed day, my friend~Debbie

That was a beautiful lyrical poem! Such positive energy emanating from it, about becoming a man. An award winning picture that draws you in as you follow the tribes and regulations of the little boy starting when he was 10, his uneasey life, the blows life deals, and how he cones in top all the time.

Excellent rhymes and flow, great message here. I enjoyed your work.

The boy can run, but the man must stay and fight, another day, another battle. This is very well written with an interesting flow of words that show the boy has a lot of masculine traits.
