G'day Shari. Wow mate, I thought my life has twists and turns! Great work on this chapter, I always look forward to your story, believe it or not I really do. Jeff may have blown a giant oportunity there my friend, but you can't put brains in a monument I guess. Cheers Fez

Put brains in a monument- I love the comparison.

You've got to give Nicole credit for her ability to adapt and find a new job and get settled into a new location as Jeff's circumstances demanded. I've been through that a few times, and was never pleased to have to pull up stakes. Jeff's job with Disney sounds like a biggie. It was surely his fault that his contract wasn't renewed. Maybe he was just itching to get back to California. Great writing, and I can see you going through the highs and lows of Nicole's experience. judi

I never could convince either one that they good audition for roles in Orlando too. Nope, that's where Jeff went to high school All his friends were there. At least he got into the union, but the dues are phenomenal! $3000 a year now, I believe.

It seems like Jeff was determined to go back to California. Wow! Those union dues are high. judi

The chaos never seems to end, does it. Families can be close but they also can be the source of tremendous turmoil. Great work with this one. I look forward to the next chapter.

So glad you're feeling better and up to reviewing. Remember the happy families in fifties TV. It doesn't work like that! LOL

Will you include what happens to Nicole and Jeff as you continue your book? It's sad he was eager to leave such a good paging job with benefits. Your part three of the chapter is a good one, Shari.
SmiLea,
Karyn :-)

Yes, I'll continue to trace their life from now on in.

Men! They are such learning experiences when you're young, giving way to much knowledge later on in life. Some choices as stated do have the tendency to tear mother and daughter apart. None-the-less this was another good read.

Oh, brother, that Jeff sounds like a looser. I have the impression your mother was a very optimistic person, always wanting to see the good and positive aspects of people and situations. That left you with the burden of dealing with reality. Hugs, Lou

Good point, Lou. Mom did see life through rose-colored glasses.

Sounds like your mother-daughter relationship and your mother's with her daughter, Barbara could be likened to a roller-coaster ride. Jeff sounds like a mother's nightmare, too. I hope, in the coming chapters, to read that your daughter dumps him.

What a shame, especially when it was all going so well. As I've said before, once your child has bonded to someone new, you lose them. It's just a case of hoping for the best and being there for them, especially if it doesn't work out. It's normal to be philosophical about these kind of things at a later date, but can cause heartbreak at the time. Another great chapter that brought the reader up to speed.

Wow, I never thought of that. Losing someone when they bond to someone else. Sounds as if you've been there, done that.

My daughter met someone when she was 15, and left on her 16th birthday leaving a beautiful home, two horses with 'designer' stables, the lot. We gave her too much too soon. It took a few weeks of hell to get her back but when she fell out with the new love of her life, she was back in five minutes. Don't think I've ever cried so much!

We're only as happy as our saddest child.
Love is so confusing to the young. My son and his wife spoil their children rotten. I worry especially about the girl. A card reader told me she would leave home early.

These men who think they are too special to follow rules are the worst losers of all. Too bad he lost that job. I don't like Florida either, but CA is too expensive!
