A really interesting and well described personality. You use your considerable free verse skills to paint a picture of an ordinary woman, a simple woman who has lead a life of simple refinements and hard work.
I like how you list, profile-like, her age, height, build etc. And then reveal bit by bit, the details of Jean's life. She wears: cover-alls on bone-chilling days.
Cut from organic hillbilly cloth; a lovely simple, but telling fact.
Your humorous 'not the brightest candle in the chandelier' describes affectionately, rather than detracts from the nature of Simply Jean.
Greta work; very entertaining.

Hi, I think this is a really good free verse poem, the first one I've read in this series. I especially liked the following lines:

She's not the brightest
candle in the chandelier
but her eyes twinkle when she smiles.
A sweetness in her tone....
yet..
more like unrefined sugar

I think it's a wonderful way to describe a character and could be translated into a story maybe? Best wishes, Hatter :)

You have nicely described Simple Jean in the simple way giving a little bit of her physical features, her likes and strength in her personality. I liked the line 'she's not the brightest candle in the chandelier
but her eyes twinkle when she smiles.' Comparing her sweetness in tone with unrefined sugar is also interesting.

I do not know who Jean is, but I well assume some self deprecating poetry. Its all good. The simple Jean I just read about is a lot of things, but not simple.

You paint a clear word picture of Jean, to one who knows hundreds like her. The
unintentional exercise of a life of hard work leaves little softness in most of them,
who are homely and active to advanced ages. Excellent portrait.

That is a lovely poem, dedicated to Jean. There are many Simply Jeans, is this world, there when you need them and always smiling. Your Jean sounds like a really lovely person. Excellent poem, Teresa! xsx sandra.

I enjoyed your tribute to the object of this well written and articulate work, I always love the loving dedication to those people that are among the focus of our meaning and purpose, you must have been addressing that to me, "not the brightest candle in the chandelier", well done with this one Teresa, on this work, simply Jean, blessings, Roy.

Oh my. Did that remind me of someone. Not only can I see her physical body but the subtle innuendos of actions and her personality. Many may say that there is no such thing as a woman who wears coveralls that loves beautiful glass figurines. I know quite a few. What a great feeling I got from this piece.

Hello Jean. I am glad to have been introduced to such a comfortable, gentle soul.
Your physical self matches your spirit, both bred in the country, with common sense, and a sense of what is right and what is wrong.
Excellent.
